Default Snagged right front bumper corner on high curb. Need advice.

Hi guys, and thanks in advance for your guidance.

My car is a 2012 460. I've only had it a few months. A couple of nights ago I snagged the right corner of the front bumper on a curb. I was parked on the street, and I backed up and turned at the same time, trying to get out. I heard the scrape, but didn't think it could be too bad and didn't check until yesterday.

But it looks very bad.

All the clips in the fender well were pulled loose, the small piece of black grill is gone, the fog light no longer fits tight in its opening, and I haven't been able to get the bumper to fit back into place no matter how much I pushed. It gaps open maybe 3/4 of an inch near the top of the piece.

And it's all one piece across the front of the car, not a quarter panel. And probably costs a ton. So, obviously a major driver error.

But I need to get it fixed and wondered if anyone had advice on where to start? My mechanic? A body shop? The dealer?

Thanks,

****

Post some pictures. This can help understand the damage and possible solution.

That white clip holds the bumper cover up in that corner on your picture. you can buy a bumper pre painted from sewell if you don't mind getting your hands dirty, should be a simple swap.

Looks like all you did is pull the bumper out of the clips. I would take the bumper off and try re installing it which should allow you to realign the bumper into the clips. Should be able to also re align the fog light too.. When you take it off you may find that you torn the bumper at the corner where the front bumper corner meets the fender. If you did it's no problem just use a bolt with two washers and a nut to re sec.ure to the quarter fender.

Yup just check those mounting clips and if good you should be able to remount it. It does look like you tore that corner piece off though

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys....

And yes, the clips are history.... there are 2-3 clips in the fender well that got torn out...

At this point, I think I'll have my mechanic look at it.... perhaps with some expoxy and small screws it might be possible to pull the corner back into position and secure it....if not, then maybe the new bumper.....

Who would I call at Sewell? And which dealership?

Thanks again.

I would take it to a good auto body shop (dealer or independent). They deal with this all day.

I have a great mechanic, but I wouldn't allow him to use epoxy and screws to repair it. In fact he wouldn't even want to touch it. it's not his area of expertise.

Take it to your local Lexus dealer and use their repair shop. They deal with this every day and will know the best way to fix it right! Try not to cheap out and let someone chop shop it with epoxy and screws. You'll be happier in the long run knowing it is fixed right. Personally, it would drive me nuts knowing the clips we're broke and they were not fixed properly.

Don't worry about it. Just like a sick person, take it to the experts and have it fixed properly. It would drive me crazy driving a luxury car like this that was patched together!

The bumper does not really hold on the side since the lamps have been replaced. Thank you guys
