Hello again Im in the process of overhauling the brakes on my 08 ls460. I need a new set of front pads and rotors and I was wondering if these were a good choice(links below). Any other suggestions or ideas are welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Thanks Tee I have heard great things about those pads I think I'll pick up a set. Do you prefer any specific brake rotors?

 

Definitely go with ceramic pads. I am very happy with the Akebono pads.

I think a couple members here have been happy with Brembo rotors. You might try doing a search of this forum.

I note when buying Lexus OEM pads they recommend also buying shim kits and installation kits.....which run up the price.

Don't know if really necessary

Do not see same 'recommendation ' for akebono.....are they available...necessary?

Have 2009 AWD.....an different parts for AWD?

After numerous attempts to remedy brake shimmy, I went with these Bendix branded ones:

Lexus OEM are crap and are notorious for warping. My vehicle had been dealt with several times to remedy it with no success. Yes, the price above is correct - 29 dollars with free shipping! I've had them for 4 months and 10k miles so far. Smooooth!!

 

That's good to hear. I was wondering how they were doing for you over time. Too bad they don't have a set that inexpensive for the rear. It just feels wrong to pay a lot more for the rears than the fronts.

What pads did you use with the Bendix rotors?

Will the ones you linked fit my )08. It says 2010 and up but then it says 08 is compatible in the description?

 

I used them in my 08.

I didn't replace the pads because they had over 80% pad left in them.

 

For the pads the ultra quite ones linked in the second post said they had built in shims is this better than the other ones. Also should I replace the shims or reuse the current ones. I live in the desert so there shouldn't be much corrosion on them.

 

of course they only had one left so it looks like I'll be picking up one rotor for 30 and one for 60

 

I changed to Akebono ceramics and Centric/Stoptech slotted rotors about 9K-10k mi ago and have been fine. Loving the minimal brake dust, esp. since I have 22" aftermarket wheels

 

Ended up going with the bendix rotors with the akebono pads. Once I get them and put them on I'll be sure to report how they do. Thank you to everyone for the help made the choices much clearer. Thanks,Mike

 

I've only had the Akebono ceramic brake pads for 5k miles, but it's been great. Low brake dust. Great braking. I kept the original Lexus rotors and resurfaced. So far, it's been great.
