I started on the right side first and had a lot of trouble getting the module to fit but I finally got it in. When it came to the left side I could not get it in. When I first tried the modules to see if both of them would work one of them did not work. I took the module apart and found a bad solder connection. Now that I had taken the module apart I decided to remove the metal housing and I wrapped the module with electrical tape and it was simple to install the module. The metal housing is not used as a heat sink so I felt comfortable just wrapping it in electrical tape to prevent any shorts. At night I use them as high beams and I think they work as good as the original lights. I really like the look of these as DRL. It is a very worth while project.

Do we know if these parts are still available and will work for my 2009? I ask because when I followed the link to amazon.com for the LED bulbs, it states that these will not fit my 2009 LS460? Is it just saying that because these are aftermarket bulbs?

And the 9005-Warning-Error-Decoder-Canceller-Capacitor-Anti-Flicker-For-LED-HID-Light on ebay isn't available any more but when it shows one that's similar (looks to be the same in fact) it states that it's not for Lexus vehicles, only for Honda.

I just did mine today. Found the parts on ebay listed on this post. Works great!!!

Only thing was the plug on the decoder on the bulb side needed to be ground down. The bulb has the two notches that keep it from plugging in to socket. First I thought I got the wrong decoder. But checking it was was right and the bulb was right.

I used my dremel to cut a grove into the socket head to make it fit. Put it all together bit of a tight fit in bulb housing. Tested all is good.

The notches on the 9005 oem buld are further apart than the led one. The socket had no grove was just a smooth surface. But was too high to clear any grove.

Default Be aware that this mod. may (on 600's), interfere with advanced pre-crash system...

....according to this info:

The Halogen high beam bulbs are used to send a part of infared light part to help with the APCS, from the high beam bulbs...even when the light is not showing as working in the headlamps ...on the 2008 LS600hL at least.....
I enclose a link to this...much more to learn here :-) :

Hi Tee,

Thanks for the info. Your pics look just great. I was just wondering if high beam was also available?

You will loose high beams (they suck anyway) however you can raise your low beams up slightly.

Bumping an old thread - sorry

Wondering if these bulbs and subsquent decoders would work for this DIY? Thanks! The decoders I had saved looked like the metal ones - now I can't find them on eBay as of today :/.

Longevity? I am seeing anywhere from 7 months to under 2 years and they are back to yellow OEM look, which I hate - ha. Do you have experience with the Silver Star's? Thanks.

Thoroughly disappointed - went with the Silverstar Ultra 9005 - and they are indeed yellow. Not what I was looking for at all. However, DRL are yellow but high beams seem whiter and brighter - who knows these awful things are probably drowned out by the stock HID low beams in the second pic.

Any suggestions? The DRLs are what bothers me the most - paid $45 for these dumb Ultras (orange box) and they are brutal. Sorry the pics are so large I am uploading directly from my phone.
