Thanks Robert. I hate arguing with someone who knows what they're talking about, its not fair to me!
Heck, I like to argue even when I don't know what I'm talking about! I like to get edumacated by anyone who really knows a subject in question. I love these cars and this forum!
Update: Dealer B (the stripper) contacted Dealer A (the last oil changer) and they refused to do anything. So Dealer B has contacted the Lexus area rep to persuade Dealer A to step up. Tomorrow, I'm going to contact Lexus customer satisfaction and raise an issue. I'm not holding out much hope, though.
Guess I'll have to find a reliable independent shop. I'd do it myself if it was only every 5 or 6 months, but with the miles I drive, I'm servicing every 6 weeks, and I don't want to spend that much time under the car.
The hell of it is, the dealer cost to make this whole thing right is probably around $300, while I spent $3500 this year in Lexus service. I just expected a little better treatment. This is my 3rd LS in the last 9 years, and I'm about due for a 4th. Maybe I'll check out the Audi this time.
The more I think about this, the more upsetting it is. Question, which dealer did you buy this car and your previous LS's from, A or B?
This car was purchased from Dealer A (Newport Lexus), as were most of the service calls over the last 3 years. They probably won't be getting any more business from me, if I understood who was covering the repairs correctly. Dealer B (Lexus Escondido) will be getting my service and my next purchase, if I decide to stay with the LS.
My previous LS's were bought from two different dealerships. Newport and Escondido are closest to my current place of work & home, respectively.
Like that scene in Pretty Woman where she walked into the store that had turned her away, you can walk into dealer A and tell them, "Oh, you sell on commission? Big mistake, huge mistake"!
This just in: Dealer B just called to tell me that between them and Lexus Cars, they are going to cover the new oil pan replacement.
Awesome! I am glad everything worked out at the end. I definitely agreed with you that Dealer A should never ever get any business from you again!
By the way, I would not recommend an Audi if you put a lot of mileage. Lexus is as reliable as any car can get now a day.
