Default selling the Es for LS or M37X

for the heck of it I stopped in the local Infiniti dealership just to see what Infiniti had to offer before I started to get serious with the LS. I liked it....ALOT..I liked the m56x even more. I am all about lexus. the comfort, the library like cabin, its smooth ride etc. but the Infiniti snapped me out of it all. ( I am 27 ) and as I enjoy a smooth silky calm ride I felt the teenager side in me coming to a nice compromise with my mature adult side. I know this is a lexus forum and opinions will favor Lexus. but does anyone see an issue with me taking a break from lexus for 2-3 years and going with a m37x? I test drove it hard. it also snowed 6 inches today and it cuts snow with no problem.

the LS I like looks identical to my Lexus ES. its a 2010 LS460 awd with 47k $39000 rides great
the Infiniti M37x I really liked is a 2011 with deluxe touring & premium pkg. 40k $29000
(black with almond interior) the M interior and technology puts the 2010 LS to shame. but I am a bit of a badge snob. as Infiniti is still not a prestigious as lexus but a $10k price difference is kinda a big deal.

guess my question is does anyone have info on infiniti reliability? any issues with the 2011 M model? long term issues? personal opinion on what to get? any and all answers would help. thanks guys!

I'm sure Infiniti makes a great vehicle but the current M series is not it. Do your research. I owned a M56 for a year and dumped it. Everything in the magazines and on the internet about drivability are true. (apparently the Q50 also has issues) The SBs to correct the transmission issues fell short. (As of May 2012) After a small battle with Infiniti corporate and a personal decision of "What is my time and sanity worth." T decided not to continue down the Lemon Law path.

I now own a 2013 LS F Sport and can tell you the difference in quality in night and day.

Find an M of your choice and put some in-town/city miles on it before you commit. Also the M56 cruise control will surge on any incline. (even a highway overpass) A 2013 did the same thing. My diagnosis was the transmission would not downshift and the car could not keep-up. It was recorded by the tech on a laptop and corporate said it not an issue. OK done with my rant!

The M37 is definitely a looker, but it's reliability cannot compare to that of the LS. I also considered the M a year ago (mmm that M56) but once I test drove the GS I never looked back. Speaking of GS, have you looked into it? It would be a nice middle between the ES and LS. I'm not biased or anything though lol.

thanks guys for the speedy response.

the GS was on my mind a bit, but the tail lights and head lamps of the 2012 model turn me off. I like the 2013 but the $48000 price tag is a little out of range for me.

as of last night the Infiniti dealer has give me a number I can live with. They offered me more than any other dealer on my trade in $20k. ( most dealers offer $16k-$18k and I currently owe $23k on the lexus) and they have come down to $29000 on the 2011 M37X with premium and deluxe touring pkg. 40k miles black ext. almond interior. 1 owner clean car fax blah blah blah. the interior is beautiful the white ash wood trim is unmatched by any other interior IMO.

I drive my cars like a grandpa I would have to be in one hell of a merge situation to put my lexus above 3500 rpms. so I am not sure if a lot of the issues other people are having with there infiniti would effect me much. it sounds like a lot of issues people have come when they are really pushing the car. and using features I do not find myself using.

2 things lexus offers that I really do not want to part with. 1.) those dam front and rear parking sensors. the front sensors have saved my car from my wifes driving/parking so many times its a blessing. 2.) the color truffle mica. that color brings a tear to my every time I look at it.

I feel like a jelous child. I really really want the infiniti but I know deep down the lexus is probably the right choice. .
