Default Typical Repairs?

New to the forum after years of lurking. I have a 2007 LS 460L with 120,000 miles on it. Just went in for service today after noticing some ride quality issues with the car. Looks like both front shocks need replaced and both control arms need replaced, plus breaks and my 120,000 mile service and the bill looks like it will be about $6-$8k when they add it all up (they are still working on it). I have owned the car since new (6 years) and it has peformed well up to now. The KBB trade in value is only about $20k, so do you think I should sell it or keep it? I enjoy not having a car payment, and I was told these cars could easily go to 200k+, but after today I am not so sure. Does anyone have experience with these cars over 100k?

I believe in lexus and the issues you are having are becoming more common control arms n air shock.. I would of went aftermarket but it would have been about the same. Cant say your car will be solid with 120k but I think u will be fine. You had 120k of trouble free time. 20 k of trade in value will get u a newer car with low payments as far as used 460l.

That bill seems about right from a Lexus dealer but I would take that list and have a Toyota dealer quote you also. You may be pleasantly surprised. 120,000 miles is break in for the power train. A colleague at a Lexus CA dealership has many LS owners who have well over 300,000 and some over 400,000 miles. Just like a swiss watch.

Brake service at 120,000 should be pads and rotors not calipers and there are very low cost quality options from EBC.

I just had my control arms replaced under extended warranty. That alone was a $3500 job. My warranty isnt one from Lexus which I don't think covers the control arms. Is your car an air ride car or no? If it's not I would just replace the shocks through a reputable repair shop. I think I spent 150 on both front shocks not too long ago. They were tokico gas-x shocks.

My shocks are the adjustable air shocks, they want to replace both in the front. Both control arms need replaced. Then brakes, plus the 120k service that costs about $1k.
