Brake pad wear sensors
I need brakes for my LS 460 2008 , I was wonering if I could still use the sensors instead of replacing hem with new ones. Just out of curiousity , Thank you

You can reuse them, but be careful when changing them; I had an issue where the car didn't like something after the pads were switched out, and had the something in the brake sensors trip out. Make sure the car is completely off when changing them out, and I would go as far as disconnecting the battery when doing it. Hope this helps.

Brake pad wear sensor repair
Hi! My car is a Lexus LS 460 President, year 2007. Once brake pad wear light coming up, but the next start disappered, but after two day, wich I spent to find front brake pads, the warning light become permanent, with the text on display breake pad wear, check the dealer (or something like that) We changed the front brake pads, but the warning light still coming up permanently. I repaired it. It's a simple wire, which if the brake pad too thin, its tore, because it's contacting with the brake disk, If you are U R in time, and not drive to much after the warning light, you can repair the sensor easy. After change the pads, at the front left brake pad you find the sensor. Cut the two wire, take a short piece of cable, form a U from cable, plug in to the sensor (two holes on it), and solder the wires to the original cable. Thats it, and the warning is off.

Yes, this has been discussed before and it works, but I would prefer to replace the sensors so that I can get a warning if the pads wear out. They're only 10 bucks each. Being in Eastern Europe, your option might be better. Glad it worked out for you!

I don"t know where you can find for 10 buks, in western Europe it's 90 € + 17 shipping cost, if you by it in US it's cheeper, but the shipping is more expensive, +custom+VAT. it means this is more. The written solution also give you the signal if the brake pad is too thin. The sensor is not a real sensor, only a piece of plastic, which goes to the brake pad, and a socket goes to the ECU, and really a simle wire, no any electrical "sensor" in it. only a simple wire, wich give a ground signal to ecu mechanically. It's your business, if you want to spend 100 US, but if you can by a factory piece for 10 buks dont do it.
