Default Need help with buying used LS460

Hi guys,

I have been very happy owner of 2006 LS430 (modern luxury package) for the past 4 years and want to move to LS460 ...
Planning to get a used one I was wandering if you can suggest any particular year that is more reliable and doesn't have any issues like engine noise and wind noise (I've read about those on forum here)

Also, is there any advantage of LONG base ( except extra leg room)?

Thank you all.

IL

Expect louder engine for sure, no matter what year you will buy. Also, if u can afford one under factory warranty go for it and extend it to as long as you will own the car. After all it is a great car! Good Luck!

Some would say that 2007 had just a few negative things that were fixed in 08, but to me it's very minor. All you need to decide is what options you desire honestly, such as:
Mark Levinson
Nav ( most come with it + park assist
LWB or SWB (majority of LWB have air suspension)
AWD
Rear seat recline/ executive seating for LWB only
Self-park
Radar cruise
Etc...
Im sure there is more, but you get the idea, haha!

There are also a handful of helpful threads floating around, too.

What is the deal with the air suspension?

I 've heard they have them on some LS430s but never rode one.

What is the main difference from the regular suspension?

Thank you again,

IL

Try to get 08+
Air suspension is nice and usually comes with fully loaded cars

I have an 07 LWB and the wind noise and valve issues were taken care of by the previous owner under warranty. This one is also CPO and I extended it out 6yr/100k.

As for the air suspension, it rides amazing! I had a 2010 GS previous to this car and the ride is not comparable whatsoever. Good luck with your purchase!

There are a lot of factors in this purchase. I was lucky to find one that worked for me. if you buy an early 07 09 with the rear climate control you will loose trunk space. if you plan on going with an aftermarket air suspension go get an non air car. radar cruise is nice. wish I had it. I got a lwb and love it. the extra room in the back seat. I never have to ask if rear passengers have enough room and move my seat. the lwb also has options that are standard. good luck finding what fits you.

Definitely lose some trunk space! I can take a picture for you if you can find or someone post one without the rear cool box. Agree with the radar cruise!

You lose almost half i think. I do love my trunk space. And I don't really care that my rear passengers don't get to control the radio or their climate.

When you move up to the LS460, we describe them as 'Pre-Owned' whilst sipping cognac and puffing a cigar at the Club.

We'll teach you the secret handshake if you should become a custodian of one of these fine motor cars.

That's interesting...I never knew you loose trunk space with the rear climate option...

Thank you guys!

Yes, I would love to see some pictures of the trunk spaces with and without rear climate controls!

Thanx again!
