Default Couldn't get tires rotated... Wheel Lock?

I guess I am an idiot.

I had no clue about this wheel lock feature. People still steal tires?

Anyway, I need to order that one item that will allow the tire people to rotate my tires. What exactly is this part called?

Any links to good deals would be appreciated.

Been doing some online research. Looks like going to the dealership and asking them to take it off is the best course of action. How much are they going to charge me for this?

I am assuming you've checked your trunk - spare tire well, etc. - and didn't find the wheel lock key/socket?

Lexus makes (as a standard service tool) a set of master keys that your dealer should own. I've never had to provide my own key in order for the dealer to do their thing. That may be your easiest bet - take the wheel locks off nice and easy.

20mm socket will take them off but unless you have a vise to get them out you might need 4. I say go to discount tire.

Discount Tire Co or Americas Tire Co depending on where you live. But as mentioned..check the spare tire area for a small clear and black ziplock looking pouch that has the key in it

I'm surprised that the shop you went to didn't offer to remove them.

Default Wheel Lock

If you have wheel locks that came from factory or dealership they have a master key in the service department that will remove it. If you are real pleasant with the service advisor they may give you a key specific lock. My dealership collects them from trade-in. There are not many different kinds of locks and they gave me an extra one. Up until the 2012 model every Toyota and Lexus vehicle I have owned the locks are made by McGard out of Buffalo, New York.

I had a wheel lock that broke when trying to remove from a blowout on my 2000 RX. It was towed to a Discount Tire (Lexus dealer not available as I was on a road trip). They literally hammered a socket wrench on the lock and unscrewed it. For whatever it's worth.

They charged me $15 per to replace that nut. I thought that was ridiculous.

These are not cheap. I once had to replace a standard lug nut on a Nissan 300zx almost 15 years ago ant at the time it was $15.

Who charged you $15. Was that for replacement standard lug nuts? If so did they replace all 4? Did that $15 include removing the locks?

A set of wheel locks run $50 plus shipping from Sewell with the club lexus discount.

They took advantage of the situation and played you...I have sent numerous people to Discount Tire who are not prior customers and they fixed their flat for free..just for the goodwill and hope they will come back for tire or wheel purchase in the future..i know Discount Tire isn't always an option depending on where you live, but there are good reputable shops that do the same thing..but that sux man..there are folks on here that spend $15 on an air freshner, but for a hard workin man like me..that's too damn high for that

The dealership charged me 15 per. Yes, replaced with a standard lug nut. They removed all locks and replaced them with standard lug nut.

Those are valve stem caps, not lug nuts.
