This Thread should be "Serpentine belt replacement and then radiator replacement" Broke the damn overflow tube even when reading about the warning to beware ! If it breaks that easily then it is time to replace. Mine was epoxied on and the tube was a little clogged. Luckily the diy was very doable and I spent $150 on a Denso radiator and 2 gallon of Toyota antifreeze for $35

Same. And we're not the only ones who made the mistake. I paid 45 dollars for a new rad with lifetime warranty, plus a few gallons of Toyota coolant. Definitely a poor design. Some members have installed a box (something fabricated form an electrical junction box, as I recall), over the tube.

One more note is that when replacing the belt I lean on the radiator connector that going to overflow and break it. This connector is made of plastic and was known for very weak. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS.
Even after reading about everyone breaking this pipe i still managed to break mine today while doing the belt swap, im stuck now trying to figure out how to fix it temporarily until i can replace the radiator

HA HA HA !! Same think happened to me and several others. Better that it breaks now vs driving on a road trip. Go to auto parts store and get a brake fitting that you can screw into the hole. Add some Teflon tape on the threads . You may have to make the radiator hole diameter wider to make the fitting work. I used a wide flathead screw driver and spun it in the hole to widen it. You can use a drill bit also to wide the hole to the necessary size. Radiator diy wasn't to difficult. Grab a Denso radiator from Rockauto or Amazon

Thanks for the info, ill try get something more reliable to keep me going until i get a new radiator, delivered. Any idea how much coolant drains out when you remove the radiator?

This is my current "get me home from work" hack. It didnt leak on the way home but i cant see it lasting very long

Awesome, awesome write up sir. I'm going to be replacing belt soon. No squeaks just preventive maintenance. Any tips to avoid breaking the tube that everyone seems to break?

Put some type of small box cover around the tube. Maybe an electric box? Even if you go into the job being very careful, all it takes is your mind wandering a little and then you realize you are leaning on the hose and it breaks off from the radiator.
