I didn't know the LS460 had a top speed of 130 MPH too? My LS430 is the same.

However the LS400 supposedly had a top speed of 155 if I'm not mistaken.

I raced my friend's 95 LS in my SC300 a few years ago and he went just over 150.

Those cars were definitely beast back then. I'm not sure how the VVT-i 98+ model compare to the 95-97's though.

If you press the gas pedal down hard enough and long enough you will surpass it assuming its not an elevated surface. Most people are scared once they see after 130 the speed increases at a small rate while you are moving at an alarmlingly quick rate. 140 is the real top speed because its not as if the engine would blow from pushing a limited speed it must increase ever so slightly. Especially when going down hill

i have maxed my car a few times and it tops out at about 132 mph. kind of pathetic in terms of top speed. At least match the German with 150-155

Sure would be nice to be able to bypass or adjust this governor issue. Either through a change or flash of the ecu, hint hint.

European Lexus LS are limited at 160. ISF at 170. Nothing special to test this on the German Autobahn. Consumption limits ppl to drive fast. Price of one gallon is currently $8 (6.25 Euro)

Been 134 in my LS. We have alligator alley here in SoFla which is 70+ miles of straight road. Not advising anyone of this thought. Its wreckless and dangerous. Been 202 in my 215hp 2 wheeled death rocket so I know speed feels good.

And how do I know it was 134? Handheld GPS told me so. Might be wrong, might be right. LOL

Me too: 132 mph, same place. Very stable.
I tried this with my GS 400 and I could feel the car lift off the highway at around 120mph.
Love my LS

Mine kicked in about 135, once...I haven't tried for a repeat. My speedo seems to be off 3-4 mph though, is the limiter based on speedo or engine revs in top gear?

So I never did this before with any of my cars (and most likely will not attempt it again) but really wanted to try and see what this 380hp beast could do. I was in the mood

Was somewhere in a rural area this weekend and me and my friend (with his 2012 Venza) went out for a drive to step on it a bit.

Needless to say the LS won

from a cold start the 4x4 Venza took the LS but once it hit 20-30mph the LS pulled ahead nicely leaving the Venza behind in a cloud of dust.
I only took the foot of the gas when it hit 120mph which was already too much for the road we were doing this on
(although it was a straight country road with no soul in sight it did go a bit up and down)
His Venza hit top speed at 110mph (governor) but the LS was just warming up at 120. It felt like I could easily hit max on the speedometer.

anyone take it further?

we also raced starting at 30mph and the LS took it from start.

this baby has some powa. I know, pretty reckless of me but it had to be done once . only wish I had filmed it since it was a one time deal
I've gotten my 1990 ls 400 with 170,000 mile on it up to 155 mph and i feel it still had some more in her god bless her beautiful little heart . look on youtube and see a 1990 ls 400 getting chased by the cops , crazy fast car !!!!

Any one saying they have been 155 in a 99 LS400 lower is not IMO, being truthful I have had three LS and get my fourth next week. I live in MA, between 295 and 495 at 2am I wanted to see what I could do with the new 19s I just put on at 8.5 widths. In any started with a rolling start at 70 I buried the pedal, on an even surface, the car tops out with the governor on a 98 LS at 144 mph. Your are only spinning in the mid high 4k rpm range. The car got heavy and just flew. It handled better that my Dads Porcshe 944 Turbo. That car was a beast. No other LS I have had has matched the raw put you in the seat power. Not my 01. Not my 05 . I pick up a 08 on weds. In any cAse, that 98 had plenty of power left. They would not let it go higher than 144 . My best friend is the head service writer at Inskip Lexus in Warwick, RI and he confirms that finding.
