What does your dealer charge for a routine 5K service
And I mean a non major interval.
I called yesterday to inquire and was told on the LS460 that they changed the oil (conventional oil), rotated tires, inspected brakes and filters. And the cost was $185.00.
Also a map update was $382.00
I usually do my own oil changes anyway, but I thought $185.00 seemed high. Filters are 4.50 (bought in cases of 12 for other family members Toyotas) and 50 bucks for two jugs of Mobil1. $35 if you buy conventional. (Prices from Walmart).

Lead Lap
Most dealerships range from $150-275. LOF,Rot/Bal, 27 point inspection, roadtest Diag check and car wash.
Some don't balance and those are the $150-200 places. Cost of living will set these prices.

Brad, Thanks so much for the input. The $65.00 price included an oil and filter change, a "complimentary inspection" and wash and vacuum, but no rotation.
The local Toyota dealership service rep told me they work on Lexus products all the time, no issues on the warranty side of things. Cost, $27.99, and when I asked how much extra the LS460s 9 quart oil capacity was going to be, he said "we'll take care of it, bring it in any time you like".
As far as the Tires = Free Lifetime Rotation/Balance from Costco/Discount Tire

Nav Update is indeed $169 for the maps (if you have a wholesale account you can get it for less), but you need a TIS Techstream to do the update.

I'm not getting ripped off at all. I'll be doing the oil changes myself and documenting with receipts and photos. See my updated posts down the line, other Lexus dealer and Following Toyota dealer charge less for oil changes. Tire rotations can be done at home or at the tire place where you got the tires. (Going to get rid of these Junk MXM4s soon).

169 is just for the maps. You cant install it yourself (at least on a 07-08), you must have a Toyota Techstream tool.

I had one of my cars updated a few months ago.. and I think I paid under $200.. I am pretty sure I didn't pay $380..

I saw a small place card.. which seemed to indicate that for $169, they would upgrade my maps.. I didn't ask whether or not it included installation.. I think it did include installation.. It said something like.. "now lower price.. $169, get your maps updated!"

What I was told, For my 09 LS 460 the update is $169 plus installation of $120 for 1 hour labor. You need the Lexus computer to load the new map database into the car's hard drive.
For my SC 430 it's a DIY simple project to replace the $169 disk in the trunk.

ok, maybe its not installed price.. because the card was in front of parts counter.. I don't plan to update the maps anyway. They are years behind in reconstructed local ramps!
