Default Intermintent remote entry problem

I have a 2008 ls460 and lately noticed an intermintent remote entry problem. I'll walk up to the car and it will note reconized my key fob, so the door will not open. I've tried all 4 doors and even have held the key fob in my hand while pulling on the door handle. I've replaced the battery and still have the problem. If I manually press the "unlock" button on the remote, the door will unlock. This only happens every so often. Has anyone eles noticed this?

If you have a duplicate key fob, try with that one. It could be the transmission circuit on the key fob. Or, the contacts on the battery spot inside the key fob. I have never had this issue at all, so I'm just suggesting. Whenever I get close to my car with the key fob in my pocket, the mirror flood lights light up and the unlock by touching the handle always works. Touching the rear door unlocks all doors, touching the driver's door unlocks just that one.

Edit: By the way, what unlocks the door isn't the pull of the handle, but just the hand touch on the back side of it.

I had noticed it and the problem seemed solved, after I replaced the battery.

Thanks for your input. I hve replaced the battery, but will check the contacts, and try the other key fob. The fact that it is intermintent, makes it difficult to figure it out. Is there anyting within the car that can be checked?

I am having the same problem. I changed batteries last year but I guess I can change them again to see of that fixes it. Odd to think it was the battery as the doors will unlock when using the button on the fob and the car starts fine with the fob in my pocket.

One possibility is the feature that shuts down the "door-touch-unlock" capabiliy if the remote wireless key is within range - I think the rane is six feet = of the car for more than 15 minutes This is explained in the owner's manual. This is probably done to conserve the remote battery and perhaps as a security feature.

An example of this would be when you exit the car and lock the doors - timer starts when the doors lock and runs unil remote key is out of range, timer starts over when key comes into rage - and you keep the remote wireless key wihin range for 15 consecutive minutes, the touch-unlock is disabled and remains disabled until the cars is unlocked by using the Unlock button on the remote.

Another exampe of this is when the car is locked and the remote is stored within range. After 15 minutes the touch-unlock feature is disabled. This can happen through house walls.

This is very easy to demonstrate.

Some of the information above is not quite correct as to the time for shutdown because of continuous interrogation. I believe the time is 10 minutes and not 15 that I indicated.

Here is a more detailed explanation that I posted in the past: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/6986795-post30.html

could be your cell phone draining the key fob creating a loss in sensitivity .

I had this same problem a few years ago on my 2008 LS. I went thru the battery change process, switched remotes and still had the intermittent issue. However each time the driver's door did not open, I went around to the front passenger door which did open.

Dealer replaced the driver's side door switch that turns the interior lights on and the problem has not reoccurred.

Perhaps this might work for you.

Thank you all for your input and especially Jeff for your detailed page. With this being an intermentent problem, I now have items to check when it happens again. As I recall, I don't believe that the key fob was within range for too long, as I walked up to the car in the parking lot and it did not open. I'll check on the key fob for the "red light" flash and see if it reconizes the contection. In the past, I have notice the problem by having the key fob and cell phone in the same pocket, but my recent concerns, have not been because of this. Thanks again to all!!
