Alt tire size
Searching for used snow tires and sound some 235-55-18. Got these results from a site as to the difference. COmments if they will work?
235-50-18
Sidewall: 4.63 in
Radius: 13.63 in
Diameter: 27.25 in
Circumf: 85.61 in
Revs/mile: 740.06
235-55-18
Sidewall: 5.09 in
Radius: 14.09 in
Diameter: 28.18 in
Circumf: 88.52 in
Revs/mile: 715.76
Speedometer reading with new tire is 3.39% too slow.
When your speedometer is reading 60mph you are actually traveling 61.97mph.

if you change all 4 tires.. i don't see why they wouldn't work..
personally, I wouldn't put oversized tires on my car...
i don't know what the price difference is, but remember.. the snow tires will probably last you at least 4 seasons (most likely 6-8)... so I would spend the extra $100 for the set for a piece of mind...
Good Luck...

when it comes to snow tires, it's all about flexible tread. I was stationed in south dakota for 4 years and snow tires, especially studded, make a HUGE difference. They are noisier and the car will feel like it is all over the place due to very soft tread for traction, but you can stick to the OEM size. The 55 series would technially fit and perhaps give you a more spongy ride, but not necessary. I would get a cheap set of used 18" LS wheels from ebay..in fact, there have been several here on Craigslist selling 18" OEM wheels and tires for $500..that way, you can keep a set ready to go each season. You can call up the Orange TPMS company and they will send you a set of 4 TPMS sensors pre-flashed with your existing TPMS sensor IDs to make the swap even more seamless. You just have to take your car to Discount Tire where they can scan your existing sensor IDs, write them down and then provide to Orange TPMS. I think a set runs about $200 or less iirc. Or, you can get OEM TPMS sensors on Ebay for under $100 shipped, part number PMV-107J, but you will have to go through the re-programming cost. Again, if you get the tires from Discount Tire, they will do that for free
sorry, more info than you asked for..but hey, if it helps you..awesome!

Yes, I kept the stock 18s, put the Blizzaks on them, and got Lumarai 19" Morros for non-snow use. I did buy additional TPMS sensors. The switching tires on the wheels thing gets tedious.
But I did do it for 5 years. I say get the tires that come closest to stock size that fit your existing wheels. Very often a size up or down is cheaper.
