Lexus Hood Ornament?
Has anyone ever thought about a hood ornament which would help one know a bit better where the front end of the car is in relation to other references? Is there such a thing out there somewhere? Anyone have experience with one?

I would rather add tailfins so I know where the back end is!
The last regular production car I know of that had a hood ornament was the Jaguar with its "leaper" (the leaping jaguar). I believe some countries have outlawed hood ornaments due to aggravating pedestrian injuries (not that the bumper and grill didn't cause enough damage). The Rolls Royce still has its hood ornament, but now it is retractable.

Hood ornaments are gone dude... Not even Cadillacs and Lincoln's have them anymore.
They really only looked good on big luxury cars, but Lexus and Infiniti, Acura, they were always too sporty and sleek to bother with such a thing.

Can't picture one looking good on an LS460, though I'm waiting for some talented CLer to produce a nice Photoshop version of such an LS...
Mercedes has kept the hood ornament, and I have to say (FWIW), it's always looked pretty darn stylish to me (then again, I have always been about 30-40 years too young for my taste in cars). Nothing like seeing the nose of an S-class pull up in front of you...

Your posts are just hilarious... This just reminded me of the scene in Mrs. Doubtfire, when she (he) rips the ornament off Pierce Brosnan's Benz and makes a snarky remark about the big car I won't repeat here.

Lexus Champion
Well how about this. DO you guys think that Lexus should of made a hood ornament back in the day and continued the tradition to the current cars? Like Mercedes example, and I believe that Toyota use to put them on the more upscale cars back in the day. I can imagine a LS with a hood ornament because of its class. I agree that putting one on when there's not an OEM version is a bit played out, but IF there was a factory option for it, it would be pretty legit if you ask me.

Well yea, if they had a naked lady on a horse (in brillant chrome of course), they would have had a best seller! The downside is people would be forever stealing them.
