This may be a moot point (if the dealership actually fixed it) but I'm having my09 LS AWD delivered tomorrow while I'm on the road traveling.....

One issue that I had brought up (that they said that they had adjusted as much as they could) is that when the trunk is closed by pressing the auto-close button the right side doesn't completely settle down to where the taillights are even. It sits about 1/8" high and if I press it down it does move to the right alignment and hold there.

What I don't understand is how one side naturally is sitting higher than the other, and more importantly why they haven't been able to resolve it.

Initially I thought the car may have been in an accident, but nothing else looks out of alignment and the only thing off (alignment wise) is this trunk deck.......

Have any of you run into this before or know what may be causing it to not close flush on both sides?

 

Since the trunk only latches in the center, and the car was not in an accident, the only thing I can figure is there must be something with the rubber molding that isn't positioned properly (especially since if you press the trunk lid down it does align properly).

 

I'll take a look at it when I get home from the business trip I'm on......

Is the hinge itself adjustable inside the trunk lining? (Wondering if there is a different mechanism to it's design from a standard fixed hinge without auto-close ala Honda etc......
