Question ?? Ipad place in the car ??

Well, i just had the idea pop into my head about mounting my ipad 2 somewhere in my 460 so that i could use it like i usually use my iphone for Pandora and other streaming radios and videos as well. So, i did i quick search to see if anyone has done it before or if there is anything made especially for the ls460 and i came across this product...http://padholdr.com/lexus/ipad-holde...-lexus-ls460l/

its a cool looking mounting bracket that seems to be legit. so my question is has anyone tried this out or have any other ideas for putting the ipad in a reachable place that is out of the way??

this car was posted back awhile ago and it has this cool ipad integration where it mechanically slides out of the center storage unit (there is a video and some pics of it on this page http://jmcustomcreations.com/ride-11ls460l.aspx )
it would be pretty sweet to find a way to mount it like that but without the mechanical sliding thing

so ya just wanted to share my thoughts an wanted to see if anyone has done something like this or has any cool ideas on how to do it

If you have an IPhone 4 and an IPad (1 or 2) one nice feature with tethering is the GPS functionality that the phone passes over to the IPad.

I run CoPilot for navigation and just tether the Ipad to the phone and as I drive the Ipad emulates the positioning functionality. Its pretty slick if your trying to use Google Maps to drill down into an area to find something from satellite photos.

I have a wife and 2 boys and each has an Ipad on the last trip we took they were all tethered to the Iphone and were searching the net, getting mail and playing on line games. It works well if you have a strong signal...

yeah i have a 64gb wifi only ipad and i tether them using tetherme (jailbroken app) it does work quite well and + i also have a grandfathered in unlm. data plan

shibumi1- that sounds pretty cool but it would be weird trying to control it from there
also, doesn't it block the rear view mirror??

yes it blocks the rear view mirror but its about the same as having any flipdown monitor in any vehicle because the rearview mirrors view is blocked.. an in situation when u need the mirror.. simply fold it up out of the way..

Default iPad instlation

I contacted customn creations some time ago about their in console
iPad mechanism but they said they could not supply the parts as aa kit
As it was far more involved as they even had to re route the air conditioner
They said if they could come up with a saleable kit it would be a great thing
But unfortunately they would need the car to do the fit

it doesnt sound cost effective to mass produce.. which is why we went the flipdown route.. its easier workin w/a relatively blank slate.. than completely redesigning the oem parts.. granted this app is 1 off.. but we have been looking into a more reproducible way to add tablets to vehicles... thats all i can say for now..
