Thanks everyone. I made some really good progress on this last night. I got the headunit all the way out and got to behind the navi unit. So far it's really easy.

Rom! You mentioned I had to remove the Navi screen since I do have ML... I'm confused what I need to access back there. Maybe because I just bought an SLI2up and not one of those fancy vais techs. There's only one mail plug on this harness... which goes into the headunit.

I will finish this tonight and put everything together.

Also! Can anyone confirm or deny the navi hack will work on my ls460 ML/Navi?? I did this on my gs430 ml/navi and i'd like to do it on this car too. I just want to be able to watch videos with car in motion, the navi over ride thing is kind of silly.

i said you need to take out the nav if you got the ml+ (vaistech unit), not if you have ml (mark levinson). sorry if you got confused

if you have sl2i-up, accessing back of radio is all you need, you don't have to touch the nav

seriously bro I feel the same way. I have been a member here for years and, even though we help each other, I think Romil has helped the most people with the most confusing stuff. The guy is a pro at Audio, wheels, tires, and most general and detailed lexus technical info. I am always impressed and feel better after I talk to him to.

I say we all vote to give Romil a 100k a year position at CL helping all member with questions
Im sure he would not argue

Ok! Vais Tech is all installed. Seems like it's good as my stereo and navi are currently working haha.

When I boot my car on the navi displays vais technology blah blah.

Does anyone know if I should us CD or MD or CD-MP3 emulation. I thought it was the last option but I can NOT get any beeps setting it up this way. Tricks??

Thanks!

mp3 emulation is what you should do. otherwise it won't show all the album and song titles on screen (when you go to audio tab)

for the beeping sound, do you have the navigation beep disabled on your car (one of the nav settings)? that could be why. but regardless, sometimes (rare) there are no beeps but the emulation goes well still. i don't know why, i say 95% of the time when i run emulation, i hear beeps. the other 5%, no beeps, but everything works perfect still

Hhaha. I had my navi beeps off. I turned them on this morning as soon as I got in my car and as I was backing out heard the vais tech beeping. ha. I will finish this tonight and put my car back together!

A million thanks to Rom as always.

Where do u guys put the vais ml+ unit itself? Do you put it in the trunk of somewhere in ufront? I also have the Nav override where does that unit goes?

i wouldn't put it in the trunk, that's a lot of trouble to run the cable, not to mention you will need to lengthen the wire. behind the carpet and glove box area would be what i aim for

I have the PS override tucked behind the NAV unit, there is enough space for that. For the ML+, like rominl suggested, a good spot is in the passenger footwell, behind the carpet, in a vertical orientation. That way, if you have to reprogram the unit, the toggle switches are easily accessible, all you have to do is remove that side trim piece. After everything is buttoned up, no one will know its there unless you tell them, it is only a slight bulge in the carpet.

Thank you guys... That's the last piece to my system. I will post the result once everything is done on this weekend. I think I gonna probably put the ML+ in the glove box for reason of detailing the inside. There is plenty of room in there anyway.http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...cons/icon7.gif
