Follow these steps from this thread. It will get you 90% of the way. When you remove the 3 long bolts put them back in the same holes. I believe they are a certain length to fit. When you pull back the black gasket you will see the screws.

The file attached will give you the part number info.

I don't complete understand what is not suppose to move. Do you mean the plastic housing/shell around the mirror that folds in and out? Mine has a tiny bit of play wiggling it left and right but not up and down. The mirror mount to the door is solid.

On aside note, I've always been disappointed how hollow & flimsy these mirrors feel.

I took my 2009 LS460 into the Lexus Dealership for service. This car is so clean and has 23,000 miles on it. When I got it back there was a crease/dent in the front passenger door. I was so disappointed so I told the dealership of the damage. Their management took the position it was that way when it came in. Unfortunately for them one of their top mechanics is a friend of mine and he had looked the car over when I got there and commented how clean the car wash. So they paid to do a painless repair. But now every time I take it in they make me do a walk through of the exterior. They are trying to put me in my place.

Don’t ever feel guilty for protecting your property. Windshields are expensive, anywhere from $1,500 to $1,800. And if they windshield is scratched it detracts from the car’s look and value. Mistakes happen, but they should own up to them.

johnny66: The PDF procedure in your link is FAR, FAR more complex than the "couple a screws" you mentioned in your previous post. I'll pass.

Hmmm, Sorry it seams that way. Of course you remove the door panel than reach up remove the 3 nuts holding the mirror to door. After that the PDF is straight forward.

Remove the two screws holding down the wire harness than the 3 long studs. Pull off the rubber gasket. The 3 new torx screws replace the 3 shorter ones already inside. The pictures do make it look harder than it is.
