Default best way to replace the center rear speaker?

recently i've noticed that my center rear speaker is blown.

it's obvious when i turn the volume up on some hip hop or the like.

what's the easiest and cheapest way i could replace this?

any ideas?

infinity makes a good replacement sub.. in an 8" & 10" that should fit an not put too much strain on the factory amp...but i believe the rear deck may have to come out

Mark Levinson was bought out by Harmon International years ago, so the infinity free air subwoofer might have similarities to the ML sub in our LS'.

I know the back of the rear seats has to come foreward or out and the deck has to come out. The sub drops in from the top. I watched them replace them on my car when mines went out. I've since blown it again and Im in the process of installing an aftermarket in a box.

Over 100k on an 08? You been doing some motoring and woofing! Sorry about your woofer. There are 2 on ebay for 250 and 349 used so new oem will be pricey.

i get around

d@mn those prices are high. i was afraid of that.

there's gotta be a cheaper option.

perhaps i could repair the sub myself... i read somewhere online that someone had a similar problem and it wasn't fully blown... just separated slightly.... he re-glued it and it works fine now.

though i don't even know where to start in order to remove the speaker.

As much as they cost, they might be repairable in some instances. You could discuss with a local shop specializing in sound system installations.

Id rather get a nice aftermarket. does any1 have any ideas what would work? maybe a slimm kicker or alpine sub? but that would require amp modification as well?

Dealer replaced it. I watched them thru their "observation area". It was replaced with another factory speaker which was gone within 2 weeks and replaced under warranty. (Yes, Im hard on audio equipment). Im in the process of having a box made with 1 of the 12s (L7) that came from my previous car and installing my Kicker amp.

Id looked on ebay and saw them ML sub going for betweek 300 and 350 and really contemplated taking it back to the dealer and having them replace it just to take it back out and sell it. Too much hassle though.
