How dark should i go?
Im getting the windows tinted on my LS monday. The car is white. Im thinking about going in the 23% range. What % do you think i should go?

Light Interior = 15%
Dark Interior = 25%
I have 15% all around, love it. The windows are pretty big on this car and I have the tan interior and originally had 25% installed. The interior was so bright it almost seemed like no tint at all, so my tinter just re-tinted it at 15% for free.
Keep in mind, you will need to subract 4-6% to compensate for factory glass. Mine actually reads out at 11% on the meter even though I have 15% film. If you want to see photos, go into my photo gallery here on CL to get an idea.

I was also told the meter gives a +/- of 2%. So depending on the cops around your area, and how strict they are on tint. Some places in NC won't even let you finish your vehicle inspection with tint that is too dark.
Here in IL it's 35%, but a local TV station had a report that the city of Chicago is adopting some sort of home rule approach that all tints are illegal in the city. I guess they've written some tickets on cars that have state legal tint but ventured into the city and are considered illegal.
Oh yeah, the fines have gone from $50 to $250.

Here in SC we don't have to go through vehicle inspections. Cops aren't that bad so im thinking as long as it's not limo dark i could get by. I do want to be safe thats why i was looking at 23% as an option.

if you are worried about getting stopped, then just do 25% in SC. little tricks (that cops know about) like sunroof open will provide more light inside if you get nervous while driving. As long as they can see you to some extent, you should be cool. I'm sure I just jinxed myself, but oh well. this may sound uppity, but cops don't even give my LS a second look..my lowered Acura TL with 15%..yeah, they look a little longer. Thank goodness for Military tags ;-)
i had 5% on my last car here in north florida for 3 years and no one told me anything about it...i would never do 5% again btw LOL...for my blk on blk car it gets sooo hot during the daytime so i just want something to keep the heat out... i like the 78% tint that cheez80 did but idk if i want to go with that or sumthing darker to give me that privacy... im thinking around doing 20 or 15 which in really be 15-20...
