Clunking Noise When Stopping
I searched through some older threads and believe others hear what I'm hearing. I have a 2008 LS460 17,000 miles. I hear what I would describe as a clunking sound and feeling when coming to a complete stop. The noise and feeling is simular to worn suspension bushings. I took the car into my local dealer. After inspection they advised me there is a problem with my car because they heard the noise and feeling like I described. They also stated there is "no fix yet" per a service bulletin for the described problem. They also stated they don't know when a fix will be available. I asked what bulletin he was referring to and he said he couldn't tell me per Lexus policy. I'd like to ask if anyone hear is familiar with this bulletin? It appears to be getting worse and my advisor stated he has another customer thats been waiting some time now for a fix. I'd really like to know the service bulletin so I can follow through with the repair by simply asking "Are the parts available for service bulletin 1234 yet? Perhaps others are also struggling with the same symptoms and yet to find a fix. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Since it's obvious there is a problem with your car, definitely check with another dealer in your area.
Be careful, eventhough you only have 17k miles, it's 2011 and your warranty may run out of time if you car was put into service in late 2007.
Refer to the following TSiB's:

Have them looks at the upper control arms. Mine was doing the same thing at 50k miles and they replaced both sides under warranty. It was close to a 2k repair otherwise.

All are good comments and advice. I'll check warranty expiration and possibly take the car to the other dealer in town.
Jlawr, are there other suspension noise from front when braking bulletins out there? I appreciate the links but not sold on those applying to my car. Thanks.

Clunking noise when stopping (reply)
Sounds like the same problem I had on my 2008 LS460. If so, it's a faulty brake actuator and that low-grade barking/popping series of noises is air leaking from your original equipment brake actuator that was incorrectly designed. The brake actuator part was designed and a technical service bulletin was issued by Lexus. The dealer replaced mine without charge, although it took more than a month because this part had to come all the way from Japan. Good luck with that.

I had a similiar problem when stopping and taking off. If you know its the suspension then it different than mine. My rear axle had to be tightened. I was a clunking sound under the rear of my car.

This is outstanding information. I have taken my LS460L into the dealership for the braking noise at least 4 times and this last time they told me that the noise was coming from the electronic brake system and that they would try and adjust the brake closer to the disc. Needless to say, I will be visiting the dealership again.
