Ls460 suspension is rough

Yes, I am curious also. In fact, I asked elsewhere if anyone has put 18 inch wheels on a LS460 for a better ride. I would really like to see pics of a car with 24 inch wheels. It will be an interesting sight, but I can't see how it will ride better than the OEM setup.

I doubt it does, but after spending the amount needed to mount such things I can imagine that an owner will claim a big improvement in any aspect under discussion. The plain mechanical fact is that rubber will flex, wheels (hopefully) will not flex. Therefore a bigger wheel and shorter rubber will be a less flexible combination than the opposite.

He said he made no suspension mods and this shows the size comparison as well as the massive reduction in sidewall height, I just want to see how he did it. If it all works out the way he said it did I would reconsider the 22s. But from everything I've heard the 22s are pretty rough.

The numbers are deceptive because the 18 at 35psi and may not stand at 4 inches but that 24 at 42 psi may be very close to 3 inches. The true sidewall tire difference is probably between 1/2 :3/4inch. Someone with an 18 could let us know what the earth to rim-lip measurement is. If all my plus-sizing experience is any good; with a more advanced, and pricier tire design the 24 and the 18 feel from the seat is negligible.

If you're telling me a Lexus LS with 24s is barely noticeable over the OEM 18s my mind will be blown. Also stuffing that tire in with no modifications will also be amazing.

I came across Deezie's build thread with lots of pics. The 24s look interesting but are too extreme for me. BTW, Deezie probably doesn't ride on these wheels anymore. Check out his thread.

imho the 18'a look like 4 donuts or bus tires, they may feel good but they are abysmal during lane changes. If the std was at 19inch and sport/touring at 20, that would have been just fine with me. I read the 24" thread and although 3inches are on the sidewall they must be the stiffest this side of concrete wheels. Every thread about 21, 22 and 24 inches ends with two tire choices: the cheapest rubber band $200 and the most expensive and rare tire $400ea. On a street car I like a tire that can be replaced without interrupting a road trip.

There is no way. I just ordered a set of forged custom 20" wheels because I've already tired of my 22's that I've been running just over a month. Tired of the road noise and tired of worrying about every bump in the road. Want to be able to drive my car on a road trip and not obsess about flat tires and such.

Let's put it this way. I drove the car on 18s and on 19s, and I could tell the difference. The difference in ride on 22s or certainly 24s would be significant lol
