Is the LS even built to go at that type of speed. I remember seen the older model on the highway at maybe 90 mph and it wobble/look like it was about to flip over when the guy was maneuver thru traffic at a fast speed. It's not worth but hey it's your car.

Im pretty sure the car is more than capable of handeling speeds of well over 160. Here's a vid of a 600 at about 260Khm which is about 160 and its holding. I've seen a few of these vids and Im guessing that the cars from overseas are not governed because all of the cars in the vids have the speedos in Khm.

HAHAHAHA, he said speedos.

Although it is upsetting to find out that a car with this much power is limited at 130mph it matches the capacity of the car and 130 is till plenty fast. Seems weird that people would say that the LS is not stable at high speeds. My LS460 ,aka BIGGIE ,is as stable as any of my old cars at about 100-110mph. I havent had the car higher than that. There is nothing about the LS that inspires you to take it to the max. High speed cruising sure, but not V max while racing someone

Just to be picky, I did top out at 132 mph. Smooth as silk and my LS felt rock solid.

The problem at 130 mph is not when you're traveling in a straight line, its when you have to brake or turn, or heaven forbid, brake and turn at the same time. Go look at the Road & Track comparison tests. Every other comparable car does much better than this one.

Heck, I see mini vans going 90+ mph on the Mass. Turnpike. They're fine until they have to make a quick lane change, then they're either into the jersey barrier or off into the trees.

My guess is Lexus restricts the speed for the same reason they lock out the nav system.

You guy's are right maybe if enough of us brought them in saying there an defect in its speed maybe they'll issue an tsb for it and all future cars wont be neutered in such a way.

If the rest of the world gets their cars governed at 160mph-ish, than the car can definitely do it. Im sure the national safety council or such regulatory board here in the states declared them to be neutered at 130. So I re-nig my decision, who makes a simple programmer or standalone kit to re-program our fuel maps, shift points, redline etc. as well as remove the governor.

At the end of the day, the 4.6 liter is just that, a FOUR point SIX LITER VEE-EIGHT. LoL Its got ample power for such small displacement compared to its rivals that are almost a liter larger. So why shouldnt I let this puppy breath?

I know there is nothing about the LS that inspires aggressive driving at all. At best the car is lackadaisical, and plush. Which is awesome in its own right, and wonderfully executed. However I want mine to be a bit more aggressive.

i would feel safe driving that fast in this car...IF I had high performance stiffer sidewall tires on bigger/wider wheels, at least brembos, and a tighter suspension. Even taking gradual highway turns at 75mph with a slight dip in the road, the floatyness of the car would concern me..but hopefully there arent too many big dips or turns on the road you are going on that fast
