Question Lurching Accident

I had a rather a nasty accident yesterday morning in my school parking lot. I was nudging the gas pedal to move the car forward 10 ft. or so, so I would be nestled nicely behind the car in front. As I touched the gas pedal to move forward, the car suddenly shot forward at a high rate, as though I had pushed the pedal to the floor. Much damage and shock later left me sitting there trying to analyze what had happened. No I hadn't mistaken one pedal for another, I was trying to use the gas pedal, just not to the degree to which it responded.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? My car is the LS460 short wheel base, 2008.

Sounds like potential throttle lag some cars experience.

I would sometimes have to add more throttle than normal in order to get the car to move and when it did it would sometimes surge ahead as if the fly by wire throttle and computer were out of sync.

There is a TSB from Lexus on this and when my dealer re-calibrated the throttle the problem was fixed.

Contact your dealer.

I have done that, they referred me to the main Lexus service number and they have assured me that I will be contacted by their legal accident dept. shortly.
I appreciate the possible cause you have suggested.
