Default Black interior and heat

Forecast high in Dallas today is 105. For those living in a hot climate and have the black interior, are you happy with it? Do the seats become like a frying pan?

it was 103 here in LA about 2 weeks ago, about what I have expected in other black interiors, the outside gets much hotter (mine is black) than the inside. The quality of the leather helps along with having AC in the seats. The main AC system is so good within 5-10 min your completely cool inside.

Lots of tips and tricks to make it manageable, dropping the rear windows a bit, or pitching the sun roof to let the heat out if your in a secure area, I use a dash sun shade which makes a big difference, The wood on the steering wheel actually gets the hottest.

On really hot days I use the remote from my office which is about 60 feet away to just press and hold the unlock button until all the windows and the sun roof open, to let all the heat out, that is a nice feature

Tinting helps a lot.

I use 3M. Tho my interior is light gray, it easily gets 120 - 130 degrees here in SA. I never complained.

It's really not a problem.

Contrary to what I have seen some post on these forums, if you use a shade and have your windows tinted, you will not find the black interior to be a problem. The AC works quickly and the cooled seats make it a non issue.

If you like black on black, go for it!

I have black interior and no tints. Im in SoFla and no complaints. The AC really comes on strong and the cooled seats really help a lot. And like stated above, since I park in a lot, I walk past my car and then to it so I roll the windows down and open the sunroof to let the heat out.

anyone in So Cal recommend a good window tint shop in the inland empire? I am in Claremont, I suspect that will be an option I will want over time. I have seen a few LS around town with their windows done and it looks nice.

Same as JFNash. I have 3M tint on my car and it helps a ton. It's been pretty hot here in Atlanta for the past few weeks.

to be honest when it gets that hot, it doesn't matter if you have light or dark interior, it will be hot. i had light interior in my previous cars. now i have black interior. i don't feel it's any hotter now, or if it takes longer to cool

Its more about the exterior color. Black exteriors generally make interior temps run 15-20 degrees F hotter then white. Get a light exterior color and mid range interior for intense sun exposure. Make sure to have ALL of your windows tinted with a ceramic tint and keep your sunroof screen closed when parked. You can apply clear tint to the entire front windshield. As always, try to park inside out of the sun as much as possible.

And if not using a windshield shade...park the car so the sun isn't bearing down directly on the seats through the front windshield. At sunset, I park the car so the sun sets on the rear of the car. Seats still get warmish but not like if getting direct exposure to heat them up.

I found a FormulaOne dealer here in my area that sells the Pinnacle line of Window tints, I had them install a 50% with a high (49%) IR index on the front and 35% with an IR index of (54%) on the back windows and the rear.

what a difference! .. with black on black in the now sweltering So Cal heat its impressive how much of a difference it makes. They took the door panels off and the window sill moldings to make sure the application was flawless. You cant tell its not factory.

Highly recommended to fill in that time it takes for the AC to cool the interior down.

For those in So Call I used Steves at www.stevestinting.com, very professional and in and out in about 1hr and 15 min total. 7 windows in total for 299.00

Same here. My old LS had a light interior. When it was hot outside it was a blast furnace inside. I now have a black interior and really don't notice a huge difference. FWIW, it's been really hot here for the last few weeks.

Try adding a remote start car alarm... i have put them on all my vehicles.. in addition to increasing engine life (circulating oil in engine b4 u jump in speed off) u can cool down the cabin by leaving the a/c on... (heat too in winter) simply start the car 5-15 mins b4 ur ready to go.. check out viper smart start if u need extra range www.viper.com/smartstart/
i couldnt imagine livin w/o it now that i have it..
Florida in July & August can get really hot!!!!!!
