Hey all,

I just got back this afternoon from 3 weeks in Europe and discovered a horrific smell coming from my 2010 LS. I left it parked outside in a private space while I was gone. I thought the smell was coming from something outdoors, but noticed the smell followed me wherever I drove this evening. I literally sniffed it out, and determined the smell is strongly emanating from both rear wheel wells. Any idea what this could be??? There was a lot of rain in Chicago while I was gone...maybe there is some stagnant water trapped somewhere? It honestly smells like there is a rotting corpse trapped somewhere in my car, but I can't find one.

I would put the car on a lifter and remove the wheels and check it out.

Could be just bad water and all what it would need is cleanup. Now I'm not sure how it would be cleaned as I'm not sure about the effect of water on the mechanical parts where the smell might be located. But at least you'd have an idea about what's going on and how to deal with it.

Good luck.

P.S. I heard that if you're going to leave your car parked for an extended period of time, it's a good idea to lift it up a little above the ground. I forgot what was the rationale behind the idea and I've never done it.

Why exactly did you think it was a good idea to leave your brand new car outside in a parking lot in the middle of summer for 3 weeks? Are you crazy?
