Some pictures of the Vizualogic headrests installed in my LS460. These are the A-1250, 7" LCD/DVD player combo. Each screen has a built-in DVD player. Each screen can view it's own DVD, the other screen's DVD, an aux input from a front-panel jack, or an aux input into the junction box that the 2 screens plug into.
It should be possible to feed video from the head unit to the AUX input, but I haven't tried it yet.

Ratcheting tilt mechanism allows the screen to remain vertical even while seat is tilted back.

It may not be easy to see from the pictures, but the color match and stitching match is excellent. Obviously the shape of the headrest, at least in the rear, is not the same as the factory version since the rear surface must be flat to accommodate the vizualogic screen.

Pic of vizualogic A1250 installed in headrest. This is a combination screen and DVD player, the screen tilts out to expose the top-loading dvd slot.

Wires are concealed inside of the headrest posts.

Thank you so much Jim. Looks great. I'd also really like to know if you get the ML dvd player attached to it. Are you happy with the performance?

I did the install myself. It isn't completed yet because I need to have some TSIBs done that will involve removing the center console, electronics stack, and seats. So I'm going to hold off until those are done so I don't have to have the Lexus techs dealing with my add-on.
So far the system seems to work fine.
It appears that there is an extra video out from the head unit that is used for the exec package screen. I haven't verified that there's a signal there yet but I would be surprised if there isn't. Again, waiting to get the TSIB work done before digging in to deep.

So it looks like a video output is available, it's a question of whether the wires are already in place. The connector is L56 on the radio, an 8-pin connector that also provides the video signal to the nav screen.
Pin 5 is NTRO which I am assuming means NTSC REAR OUT, 6 is ground, 7 is shield. I would suspect that this video signal is present regardless of whether the vehicle is in motion or not, since it's intended for rear seat viewing.
It should be pretty easy to hang a video monitor on those pins and see if there is a signal there.
I will be installing a set of vizualogic DVD headrests in my '07 next week. I was more interested in finding a way to put an external video signal into the front screen, but it will be a good time to do some experimenting.
Jim, where did you order your headrest tvs from? that color match is perfect... I have the same color interior and want to get those for my girls to watch.... just need headphones added...thanks in advanceOriginally Posted by jstjohnz
The wiring diagram shows a video output from the radio receiver assembly to the rear seat entertainment ECU. Not sure if these wires are in every vehicle or if the harness is different when there is a rear seat entertainment system. So it looks like a video output is available, it's a question of whether the wires are already in place. It's been 6 years since someone posted in this thread, and Jim hasn't logged in since 2011, so I wouldn't wait for him to answer. Someone else may know thoughOriginally Posted by freemurray

I'm sure someone else has ran into this and hopefully you can give me some help and guidance.
im curious has no one tried to pull the parking brake button on the dash and trace where it goes to the radio? I’m sure just grounding that wire out/completing the circuit will make the car think the parking brake is on and allow the output of the DVD video. Hopefully nothing else would stop functioning… lolOriginally Posted by adammb
I have a 2007 LS460L with ML and am wondering what my options are for addin tv screens to it. From what I read the system already has a dvd player in the dash. Can I add monitors to it and use it to play dvds? I know there is an overhead option from Lexus and I dont want to even imagine how much that console and needed items cost. I think I want to do headrest monitors but want to know if they can be fed via the dvd changer in the dash.I'm sure someone else has ran into this and hopefully you can give me some help and guidance.
