Cool Staggered Lumarai 19s just installed

Here it is if you are curious about how they look in some real world photos. I went with Lumarai because I was tired of the balancing issues, centering rings, custom lug nuts, and having to carry 2 lug tools and a set of stock lugs for the spare. These wheels work just like Lexus originals, but lighter, and STAGGERED. The come in polish, chrome, and black. These are polish, with a mirror deep dish lip.

I did not move, but rather, I kept the TPMS sensors in the stock wheels/tires for winter duty. They have all-season tires now, but when those run out, I'll do dedicated snow tires and rule the arctic wasteland.

I went with 19" because I suffer from chronic curb rash, and I didn't want to run 44psi and have the ride stiffen up that much. These feel only slightly sharper on expansion cracks than the stock 18s, but the handling (and lack of lateral tire noise and squealing) is amazing.

Wheels + Dunlop Sport MAXX TT + new TPMS sensors + Install + Ohio tax = $2800

I would've kept the stockers on. Those don't suit the car IMHO. Tires look too big as well.

OUCH! Its personal preference of course, but performance was the big concern.

1. My stock wheels were the multi-spoke 18s, not the Lexus 19s, or the new for 2010 wheels. The stock 18s will be relegated to winter use.

2. Since I drag race and autocross my car, lighter weight wheels with wider tires is a big help. I have completely eliminated wheel spin in most situations. The 20s would have shown less tire sidewall, but would have changed the TPMS thresholds as well as added a lot more rotational weight, slowing the car down, adding to braking distance, etc.

3. As for staggered wheels with the tire filling the wheel well. . the Germans have been doing this since the 80s. The BMW M5 is a great current example, but even my friend's 1989 535i had tires fill the wheel well. Its personal preference, and I'm partial to it.

4. And admittedly, I did it to look different. On the West coast 18 year olds by these new, but in my part of the world, everyone I see driving these are 50+ years old. Since I'm in my 30s, I want the car to look a little younger and updated, and the stock 18s just didn't do it for me.

What is the tires size?

They look quite thick.

245/45/19 up front, 275/40/19 in the back. This is what is recommended for this wheel fitment. The 20s are the same width tire, but with a smaller sidewall of course: 245/40-20 275/35-20

Since I was banging up 18s in my GS, 19s are about as low as I go in Ohio. Bending and scratching 20s is not something I want to deal with, especially since the last winter completely dominated the roads I travel. I like the extra cushion this affords for comfort, and protection, from not only wheel damage, but zombies.

Oh, and these tires ARE big, by design Discount Tire told me they have the biggest wheel protector lip in the industry, and these are summer high performance rated with no wear or winter rating.

Where else can you legally go fast? And this is the fastest car I've owned. . .14.8 in the 1/4 mile at 95 (faster time, but slower trap speed than my 400 and 430 gs cars I had prior.)

Nice setup, first time I've seen a CL Lexus with the Luminarii wheels.

I think they look cool (young cool), and if someone sees you from afar, they'll know it's you instead of someone else because you'll be the only person within 1000 miles of of your house with that colored LS with those wheels.

Nice choice for you! Congrats.

Yikes. I was considering getting Lumarais, but frankly these pictures are very disappointing. They're nice looking wheels, but they're just too small. Something about the wheel design makes them look smaller than they really are (compare those images to the Lexus 19s). Here's what they would look like if they made them in 22s.

I'm sure those 19s look fine in real life, but after seeing how gorgeous 22s look on the 460, I don't think I could be happy with anything smaller.

Blacktype- - Wow! Your photochop skills are legendary! You did a really good job!

A pic of the car with 20s (20x10 is as big as they get) greets you if you go to www.lumarai.com. If they sell enough, they may start offering more styles/sizes. Their dealer marketing is horrible. . no one is aware of them.

I really should have taken a pic of the car on the street. . the driveway angle (with the body leaning toward the engine) is empasizing the tires, and pulling the rear up, showing even more tire, much to the forum's dismay, I would have to predispose.

And I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the fitment is. . they feel like OEM wheels. I have practically no loss in ride comfort.

I like it, it's a very nice, clean upgrade from stock and suits your needs perfectly.

Congrats on the upgrade!

Thread hijack time-

I swear, if I hear one more comment about preferred or personal opinions on wheels/tires in threads with guys showing what they personally like and prefer to spend their own money, on their own $80k car, I'm going to go completely bat £#*!.

Keep your IMHO comments to yourself unless asked.

If you posted pictures of your wife/girlfriend, what would you say if I replied "Shes's extremely underwhelming, with way to much meat on her. The preferred size is 36-26-36".

Yeah, I saw those images and I thought they looked a bit small even as 20s. I can't tell if it's just the way they photograph or if they look like that in real life as well (I've never seen them).

I do hope they start making more wheels though. After reading about the issues some people have with aftermarket wheels, it does make Lumarais sound really appealing. They were the first wheels I looked at. I'm just hoping they make more designs and sizes (especially sizes).

And to mboverst. This is a thread about Lumarais. I have a personal interest in these wheels and Rocket's images confirmed what I already suspected. I'm not criticizing his decision to buy them or even saying they look bad. I'm just saying I'm disappointed.

@black, sorry you weren't the person I was aiming at with that statement, i understand what you were saying. Just a pre-coffee, early morning rant regarding negative comments and useless posts (much like this one) that seem to occur to often.

FYI- You do have incredible Photoshop skills!
