Default Side view mirrors not pointing down while in reverse

Hey guys newbie here. First off love your forum...lots of great info.
I just purchased an 07 ls about 3 months ago and its the best thing in the world. I just had a problem recently with the side view mirrors not pointing down when i reverse. Has anybody had any problems with this?

Check your side view mirror selection switch. If it is in the middle (neutral) then the mirrors won't go down. Leave it set for either the left or right mirrors and they should go down in reverse.

Ah ha! Slacking off on your manual reading are you. After 3 months you should be at least a quarter through one of the manuals!

I never read the manual other than when I'm changing fluids and don't want to void my warranty. I'm the same way with cell phones and pc's as well. Although I've found that programming garage openers in the car requires not only a manual, but a miracle

Ah, I see Memphis, you come from the school of When All Else Fails, Read the Instructions. Been there, I am now a post-graduate of When All Else Fails, Beat the Crap Out of It with a Hammer!

Don't give up on rolling codes. Follow my previously posted instructions... this is what worked for me:

Before starting, set up a ladder to access the "Learn" button on the garage door opener. No need to depress the button at this time. Also made sure the car does not obstruct the passage of the garage door, as it is activated during this procedure.

1. I left the engine running.

2. Cleared the Lexus Homelink.

3. Held the Chamberlain remote about three inches away from the LS Homelink keypad.

4. Depressed and held the appropriate Homelink keypad. Steady LED on observed.

5. Depressed and held the Chamberlain remote keypad until the Homelink LED began flashing rapidly. Released both.

6. Got out of the car and climbed the ladder again to access the "Learn" button. Briefly depressed the "Learn" button.

Note: The LED came on, but the opener's light did not flash.

7. Within the allotted 30 second period, returned to the car and depressed the chosen keypad briefly one time.

The opener's lights flashed indicating a handshake between the opener, and the car's Homelink. Tested the operation of the Homelink under various operating modes.

I performed this sequence successfully on my 2007 LS460, and likewise when I acquired the 2008 LS600.

Apologies to the OP for hijacking this thread...

Hey young30,

I had the same problem with passenger mirror on my 2006 IS250, it was stuck in the down position and would not move up at all. I used some jigaloo and it's working perfect now. I used the straw that it comes with the can and pointed in a couple spots and sprayed away, after a couple of minutes of moving the mirrors side to side the up/down function started to work. I was so relieved, I really did not want to spend $500 to $900 on a brand new mirror!

Hope you have the same results!
