You can try to change the bulbs, but they are yellowish when running as daytime light because the circuit puts them at a lower voltage compared to when they are used as high beams. Those lamps are dual function.
I changed my fog lights and was wondering if its possible to do the same to the daytime running lights because they are so yellow. Thanks!
Your DRL's are also used as your highbeams. You can always change them out but like Luxofreak mentioned, the voltage to the lamps at DRL duty are a fraction of the percentage as highbeams. You can have them turned off by the dealer if you wish.

If you still want the high beam circuit to operate as DRLs, you can change the bulbs to a higher temp bulb like the Sylvania Silverstar 9000, whose Kelvin temp is 4000K, bringing them close to the low beam HID's 4300K. You cannot use high beam HIDs in a DRL circuit as the DRL voltage is reduced by 50%. HIDs will not light in this low voltage condition.
However, if you choose to dispense with the DRL feature, you can convert the bulbs to HIDs, but you'll need to mask and align the beam correctly so you don't blind oncoming drivers. My suggestion would be to stick with the DRLs as they have been proven to be safer, in countries that mandate their use.
