Default Tires soo soon!!

I just picked up my 460L from dealer for 20K service. The service writer said I need new tires. I don't drive crazy so I'm asking why so early. Is the treadlife only 20K on these tires?

They're the Bridgestone Turanza's. The service writer told me to look at Michelin's because the tread warranty is better. I am looking for advice. I think I might need all season tires because it gets cold in Indiana.

I know the Dunlops self-destruct quickly, and I believe I recall a warning sticker on Bridgestone-equipped cars saying to expect about 15,000 miles.

Go with the Michelins. I have them now and they are good to go.

The new BMW M3's tires have been known to go (with normal wear) in less than 9K miles. If it makes you feel any better .

You did well to get 20k...I had to replace mine at 15K. I took the car in complaining that there must be some sort of suspension problem...Problem was that the tires needed to be replaced. Like you, I couldn't believe it! Didn't go with the high $ Lexus replacements. Put on Pirelli Pzero's.. for about 1/2 the cost of what Lexus wanted.

Default Bridgestone wear

I got 22K out of my OEM Bridgestones EL-42. They have a wear number of 220. I bought Bridgstone Serenity as repalcement. They cost s the same and the tread wear is 440. Have been very happy with performance and low noise and they should give 2x the life

How is the "Serenity" handling on wet pavement and light snow?

I'm considering the Serenity, but the new Pilot Sport A/S Plus are higher performance, 500 AAA and cheaper.

Got ~18K out of my OEM tires w frequent rotation.

Last week, purchased 4 new Mich Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires. Ride so far has been very good and quieter. I believe discount tire and costco still have $70 rebate (total ~$950 w *full* replacement certs from discount) this month. Make sure you get the improved "Plus" version; some places are getting rid of the previous edition tires.

thx, wr,
jeff
