Given it only comes in the heavier AWD configuration, the 600hL is as fast as the RWD 760Li, so it does perform like a V12, just not the twin-turbo'ed V12's from Mercedes with 500+hp & 6-700+ lb.ft peak torque. Plus they have to detune the 5.0 litre V8 to make only 389 hp, so the hybrid LS can get a SULEV emissions rating ...

I know many do not care for that rating, including me ...

Yes, very good point.

ndk83 umm..... why do u guys think there is no Alpina B7?
Do you have a link to that, I would like to see what they did to the motor.

srcada The LF-A has been nixed according to autoweek due to economy and fact that Toyota lost money for the first time in 70+ years. If there not building the v-10 for that car I can't see them building it at all. I would buy an LS-F in a heartbeat if it really performed, I was #1 on the waitlist to buy the 600h because they said it would perform like the v12's from MB, once it came out and I found out it was slower from 0-60 than a 460 it was a huge let down & I couldn't justify the extra $$$

the v10 engine i am pretty sure toyota has it already, that's why all the test prototypes. last i heard they might be delaying the lf-a, and make it a limited production car, but i don't hear any cancel on the project, not like the nsx

i think whoever sales told you the 600hl was as fast as the s600, he was silly at best. who would came up with that claim between a v12 twin turbo vs v8 hybrid

Here is the description frmo supercars.net

The heart of the B7 is a 4.4 litre V8 engine that is charged through the use of a radial (Nautilus-type) compressor. The combination of Valvetronic and charging is world first. Through the use of Valvetronic's complete functionality, the charge is controlled by varying the valve opening depth and the boost pressure. This charging helps the Alpina engine generate impressive performance figures: topspeed is around 300 kph, with 100 kph flashing by in 4.9 seconds.

There is no LS-F on the development board. A LS "F-Sport" should debut later this year. The GS "F-sport" and IS-C "F-sport" just debuted.

As for BMW, Henry is right on with them not making a M7 or M3 CSL but they WILL make a X5 M and a X6 M. "M" has a new director and he was the guy (moron) to axe the CSL and instead go forward with 5,000 lbs monstrosities.

Alpina is a different as its considered a car makers in Europe. Reviews of the last B7 were fantastic. Sports Car International called it the best big sedan they ever drove.

i just hope they don't put the same fsport wheels on the ls f-sport, that'd be disastrous

for the life of me i can never understand m on the x5. i mean, i am sure it will handle well, but it can never be anything like the m3 or m5. in fact, whatever the x5 m can do, i am sure a "m7" is capable too
