Default More on Cabin Filter

Perhaps the title should be "Moron cabin filter". Because I feel like one.

My LS now has almost 16K miles. The "change cabin filter" light with the "warning triangle" continues to come one every time I start up. I took out the filter and vacuumed it and it's just not very dirty. I tried to "reset" the warning but apparently it's not in the "Maintenance" menu.

It's still VERY VERY unclear to this moron how this works. A detailed explaination would REALLY be appreciated. Again I ask...is there a "sensor" (I doubt it) that tripped at about 15,700 miles to say the cabin filter needs to be replaced? And if not, then why did it the warning come on at that arbitrary mileage? And how is it reset, regardless of what caused it to come on?

Sorry for being so dumb but it's just not clear!

I don't think there is a sensor - I think it is based on miles driven. Well, I don't know anything either. Try this: push the "Info" button on your dash, then select the "Maintenance" button on the screen. You should see a screen button that says "Air Filter"

That is exactly what I did. I think it's for the air filter to the engine, not the "cabin filter" Furthermore, I think this is just some arbitrary "alarm clock" and it not really "linked" to the car's mechanical function. In either case, "resetting" it did nothing to remove the "TRIANGLE" warning indicator and "Change Cabin Filter" message at every startup.

Daryll,

I am going to have to start charging you a consultation fee. Look on page 526-527 of your owner's manual. If you don't have an owner's manual send me a PM and I will scan my pages and post them. And thanks for helping train me on this subject - I will need to know this soon.

526-527 in my 08 owners manual is 3-8 Other Interior Features and talks about Lexus Link. I assumed the 07 was the same as the 08.

Daryll, could you post a summary from the manual out here so we all know?

Sorry about the quality - it's the best I can do without breaking the back of the manual.

Yup! Worked perfectly. I can't thank you enough. I never thought that "do it yourself" stuff would be in the manual!
