Just curious. Does anyone have staticky, poor AM reception in their LS460 or LS600hL? Mine sounds like trash on my local AM stations, but my LS430 sounds just fine with the same stations.

 

Mine sounds fine. I think there's an RF Amplifier in the rear somewhere to make up the gain in the absence of a conventional vertical whip antenna.

Do the local FM stations suffer the same malady?

Did you tint your windows? If so, many tint films are metallic and when put on the rear window degrade the AM reception.(assuming the antenna is in the rear window). Had this problem on my 01 740i.

 

Interesting. I do have window tinting (it's ceramic, intentionally and I was told that didn't effect reception).

FM sounds just fine. I wonder if I have a defective RF amplifier. Might have blown at the time my ML system broke and beeped me deaf.

 

I have the same problems with my LS 460. Took it back to the dealer, and they said that everything was "normal." Had a 460 and no problems. The FM is great. What is this about an RF amplifier? Where is it located?
