If it's a matter of just finding a 12volt power source I'll put them in easily with the door light circuit.
seeing how most lexus works, i am pretty sure it's nothing but tapping into another switch wire that's triggered by the door latch. i don't think there is another controller for that

I found these on L-Tuned parts.com...
They're from Lexus Japan, so they'll have to be ordered. May not come with installation instructions...you'd need to double check with Luis at Carson Toyota. I got my mudguards from them though Lexus Japan and they took 6 weeks to come.

Gary,

If you do this modification, pics are a must!!! I'd love to see how this looks. Also let us know if installation instructions come with the parts.

Will do, I will document the whole procedure.

I want the rear glass spoiler first, it's on order and has to be painted.

Than turn signal mirror covers.

Than illuminating door sills.

Gary R, oo others?

Did you do the sill plate mod? Would love to hear and see some pics. Ready to tackle it. I also came across this on the web ( http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/imp...dDoorSills.pdf) and wondered if it would help. I have an 08 LS460, and I think this is for the GS series, so not sure on the wiring part:

I got this sills when I was in Japan at Lexus dealer. Costs about $640 for the set of 4. Lexus has 2 options: white LED and blue LED especially for LS600. I've got blue one. Looks awesome, installation took 15 min. Can take a pic of it.

In order to be sure that it's light off when you close the door, you need to wire to special door "end" unit. The same as room light is off when you close the door )) Sorry, forget the name of that small thing in door )))

I talked with Carson L Tuned and they also said there was only a 50-50 chance that my car would have the correct wiring harness to simply tap into. So I am curious what others have found. I havent taken the sill plates off my '08 yet.

Guess you know the light went out when you can start your car the next morning

Guys, installation is very simple and Lexus OEM door sills DIDN'T COME with any "wiring harness to simply tap into"!!! Just wiring house. Any electro-guy (sounds funny)) will do it during next 2 venti's! Even in Moscow I paid only $30 for it.

I'm more interested what your mechanic tapped into for power. If you can as him what color wires and where he got power from.

I would guess the door switch is where he got power for the sill light. The sill cover it self just pops on and off in seconds.
