XM Radio renewal
OK, I forgot how to go about this. It was too late for me since I renewed and paid the full price for XM radio plus with live traffic updates. But my business partner got his LS a few weeks after I did. His XM free trial period expired and now wants to renew. Is that "fake coupon" deal still available? I know there was some kind of a code, but I don't remember the particulars and could not find the original thread on this topic. I believe Mike_TX was one person that knew the trick.

Ever since I declined to renew my XM after the 3 month free trial, back in December, I get either the $77 offer or some additional choices - the latest being 5 months for $19.95. However, they all come with a code specific to my car. Since I don't listen to XM, I have not renewed. Maybe the next one will be for free for a few months.
I am happy to report that I just set up my business partner with a year subscription for $77 plus $40 someting for live traffic updates. I did not do anything extraordinary at all to get the $77 offer. I just stated that my free trial expired and I was interested in signing up for the $77 offer. The rep said OK, that is a one time offer and proceeded to get all the info. It was really simple. She said I would need to turn the power on and leave it on channel 001 for 15-20 minutes so that all the programming could be downloaded. I did that for my business partner and he is now connected to XM again.
Unfortunately, I renewed mine prior to the free trial expiration and the rep I talked to at that time told me that this $77 offer is no longer valid. This was about 3 months ago. So, I ended up paying full price. Oh well. You win some, you lose some.

I'm not intending to get political here, but this administration is absolutely paralyzed. This XM/Sirius merger has been under review for some 15 months or so.
Frankly, I could care less what they decide, but for heaven's sake, decide something!

The Dept. of Justice approved the merger.
Waiting for the FCC to bless it now.
I'm waiting for the A La Carte pricing.

It is still going on, only takes a bit longer....When your $77 expires after 1 year, call them before it expires and tell the lady ( in India btw), that you do not wish to renew at the $144/year cause it is too much and you will listen to cds and pbs. She will tell you that the $77 was for one year only and tell you wonderful things about XM...repeat then, if you can not have it for the same price this year then you will cancel.....she will then shoot you over to another lady (yes from India), who will say why do you want to cancel...repeat your story, and she will give you 3 options for renewal all at BIG savings. The last one is the $77/year. I jsut went through this November 4th, 2008!

. I wanted to get the "Best of Sirius" so I went ahead and called XM a couple weeks ago to subscribe. I talked to some lady and she set me up and pro-rated the amount. However, I had paid full price to begin with so all they did was extend my subscription to something like October, 2009. Oh well. I suppose I contributed to this struggling company
. I am really a softie I guess.
