For me silver is such a common color. Everybody has a silver car. I personally think the LS looks much better in darker colors. It doesn't need to be black. Look at that charcoal they offer - beautiful. I've got the Verdigris Mica (dark green) and love it.

Not to mention that every single Merc commercial on TV shows silver cars. Lexus does the same on the hibrids TV commercial. Silver looks good on camera, but I personaly don't like it live.

 

Got news for you, the exterior color of the car has absolutely no impact on how hot the car gets from sitting in the Texas sunshine

 

i was about to say that. and even interior i don't see that much of a difference. i had tan interior before, and now black. when they get hot, they are just as hot as each other. get some good ceramic tint and that's probably a better solution

 

On a very sunny day, go outside wearing a white T-Shirt. Then, try a black T-shirt and tell me which one gets hotter faster.

 

let's be practical not theoretical here, should we? maybe it takes 30 mins for black interior to get cooking here under cali sun, and 35 mins for tan interior. big deal

 

I bought a 2008 Black on Black, did all of the research. The exterior color of the car makes absolutley no difference as to how hot the car gets or how quickly the car heats up. The interior color of the car makes very little difference. If you leave 2 cars out in the mid summer Texas Sun for 2 hours, the black interior and the tan interior will both reach 150 degress. The black interior will get to 150 degrees about 10 -15% faster than the tan interior. The deciding factor as to how hot your car gets, is the windows. Tinting your windows is the only way to keep your car cooler when it's parked in direct sunlight. Also, cracking your windows a little doesn't do a darn thing except make it easier for someone to break into your car.

 

What about the PSYCHOLOGICAL aspect of feeling cooler in a lighter color? Yeah, I get it that it makes no rational sense, but perhaps the "ligher color=cooler car" myth has taken on a life of it's own in many people's brains.
