yes it's extra options on swb. do you have auto trunk closure though? if you have auto trunk (button on trunk, you press it and the trunk will close itself) then i think you should have auto doors

one of those weird US spec things
I have to also keep holding lock for the windows to go up or down. Maybe Singapore spec is about the same as USA

here is my question:
my car was lock, I stand out side the car with my remote, I press and hold the unlock button , and the car is unlock, all the windows go down, and sunroof open (cool thing). But when I press and hold the lock button, the car is lock but the window DID NOT roll up and the sunroof DID NOT close. can anyone tell me why, or is it suppost to be like this? (notice that when I am doing the same thing with the button on the door handle, the windows roll up and the sunroof close itself.)

I dont know about the LS but on the ES you press and hold the black button on the door to get all the windows and sunroof to close......

I am pretty sure that I saw this on the personalized options that are set at the dealer at 1000 miles. The remote can be set a number of ways. It just needs to be set to also close roof and windows.

negative. bottom line is here in the US the remote can't be used to closed windows/roof

So I got my new LS yesterday and I am playing with the auto door closers and am wondering why this is such a big deal on cars in this class. If the doors are fit well would they not just close right every time? why the motors etc to do this for you? OK so if you dont happen to get it just right, I can see where it will finish it off for you, but I dont see much of an explanation from Lexus as to why they even spent all the money to add this feature

http://www.lexus.com/models/LS/featu...or_closer.html

On another note since it is designed into the LS, is it better to just close the door the old fashioned way or is it best to let the auto closers do this for you?

I can see where on a Corvette where there is no window frame and the window needs to fit up into the gasket this would be necessary, but am struggling with why the effort of adding it to all the doors on the LS and other prem lux cars. IM sure there is a good reason, maybe its just for safety and security if you cant or dont do this right yourself?

i can give you one great scenario right the way. kid falls asleep, you put them in car seat. no need to slam the doors, just click it, and it closes. quiet, perfect. slam the door, kid wakes up, trouble

it happened before right in front of me already

A word of caution to owners that have this feature; don't get your fingers pinched while the door closer is clamping the door, or else you may suffer the consequence like I did. Think about how a kid's little fingers would get crushed. Those closers do not reverse like windows do, and they don't let go when they grip whatever gets caught. This photo is two months after the event...

Thanks Romini, I guess its more elegant and has is virtues. The doors are amazingly heavy and the back ones fit like gloves from what I noticed in detailing the car for the first time. The LS has a fit and finish that is just leagues over my GS. I also noticed that there are several layers of seals around the door and the surround on the vehicle, so the closers must help also to make sure that those are all tight to make the car so quiet.

yes, the ls460 doors are noticeable heavier and more solid, it's definitely a step up from the gs

although when compared to other manufacturers like mb (s) and bmw (7), i still think the ls doors are relatively easy to close

Yeah, not to go too far off-topic , but the German automakers like to have doors that remind one of a bank vault .. Their cultural preference for sparkling clean windows is also apparent in the size of the windshield washer fluid container..the darn thing on a BMW can take a gallon of washer fluid easily ..
