Default Bluetooth Help

Info:
2008 LS460
Phone: LG Chocolate

My phone has already been setup to work with my LS. It's been working for a month now. Recently, it hasn't been able to connect. So I tried connecting using my phone while the car was on/off and the phone stated "Bluetooth connection failed: Signal not in range or device not turned on."

I also tried connecting through the car's menu and still no luck. Anyone have any advise? I'm thinking I might have to take it in and have it checked.

Thanks

Yes, I just checked and the bluetooth on the phone is on. Also, It has the bluetooth icon on the top of the screen on my phone.

I have not changed any of the settings on my phone or the car and this situation happened.

Hmm, so it worked for a month and now just stopped working? Is the bluetooth in the car active? If it is, at vehicle startup it should say "Bluetooth connection successful" at the top of the screen briefly, or "Bluetooth connection failed" if not.

Also, how many cell phones have you paired with the car? Maybe you can go into the bluetooth menu and check the configuration, passkey, etc? Or try pairing it again with the car...

"Bluetooth connection successful/failed" message no longer appears. I tried to connect with the car and the phone but both failed.

There is only one phone that is paired to the car and the configurations are correct.

Sometimes in my 3GS, the message might say failed and then I would just connect it with my cell phone. Other times, I don't see a message (or maybe I just didn't notice it) and I notice it's not connected so I would connect via phone. But, I never received the message on my phone "Bluetooth connection failed: Signal not in range or device not turned on."

Maybe I should just try deleting the bluetooth phone settings from the car and phone, then repairing them.

Well let's see, you could get a new cellphone or a new LS460. Now which one would be cheaper ............................. ?

Sorry DK, I am of no help!

Oh, I should have added that I just got the new LG Voyager and the connection was seamless.

Beat me to it. I'd delete the phone from the car, and if there is a configuration in the phone itself (such as "car" or "Handsfree" or whatever), delete it, too. Then re-pair the phone with the car.

That should get it, unless there actually is something wrong with the phone (or the car).

I tried deleting the devices on the phone and the car. The phone could not find the cars bluetooth still. I checked the phone and bluetooth option was on.

I tried using the same phone in a 3GS and same results.

I tried using a different phone (but same type) and I was able to connect.

Conclusion: The phone is messed up. Now, time to work on the phone.

Thanks for everyone's help. Good thing it wasn't the car

Try re-booting your phone before you give up on it (power off, remove battery and sim, re-insert and power up) then try to re-install on car...worked for me after a visit to AT&T

If it still doesn't work, get someone else's phone and pair it to the car to see if it works then you can troubleshoot if the issue stems from the phone or car. Good luck!
