New Base Price?

New Base Price?
I am negotiating for a SWB 08 LS460 and three weeks ago i got a quote with base of 61,500. I really think i want the smokey graphite.black int., which they found Today i got a new quote as follows:
base 62,000, comfort 1290, link 900, mark lev 6345, park asst 500, door closer 395, accs pkg 240,dest 765, total 72435. The first one they quoted me on didn't have lexus link which i thought they all had. They have offered to sell for 69,500. I see people getting for 2-3K above invoice so this doesnt seem to be a good deal.
Anyone else heard of a base price increase, or think of what i should offer to pay on this car?

But your price looks more like MSRP to me. I got the same car except for Lexuslink, park assist (the "parks itself" one) and acces pkg., and my MSRP was almost $72,000. I got the car for $64,700.
I would think you could get the car for under $66k if you work it pretty hard.

The last price increase was just before the end of last year, when it went up another $500.

I live in Charleston, SC, and have bought 6 vehicles from the local dealership since 1997, but they have NEVER been a dealership to deal. Quite frankly, their cars just don't stay on the lot and they don't budge on prices. Is this a matter of some dealerships willing to deal and others not, or do I just suck at negotiating with them? I always did well when negotiating with other car dealers, but these guys just don't seem interested in budging.

Hey, raj. Actually, I got my car tinted by the dealer - Park Place Lexus in Grapevine - as part of the deal.
I've had good luck in the past, though, at Alta Mere - they have locations around the metroplex. I also used a small place a couple of times called Solar Scape, and they did a great job for cheap ($100). I think they have a location in Dallas (?)

I suppose there are some dealers who don't operate on volume and just won't deal, but IMO they're shooting themselves in the foot.
If I were you, I'd be more than willing to shop in another city if they treated me like that. After all, you could do a deal over the phone, buy an airline ticket out, and drive the new car back home if you were saving thousands of dollars!
Get pricing info from edmunds or KBB or wherever, contact the internet salesperson (or sales manager) of several dealerships, and offer them $2,000 over invoice. All they can do is say no, but I'll bet one of them bites ...

Thanks Mike....I may just do that, the call to other dealerships. I guess my concern with that was that, although I realize the local dealership will always be happy to maintain my car, they led me to believe that part of their unwillingness to "deal" had to do with the costs involved with loaner cars that I received from them when getting service. In other words, they had to maintain there price to be able to give me another Lexus to drive when I bring my car in for repair. Is that total BS? I guess they don't have to give loaner cars to someone if they don't want, but would they really not give a loaner if I bought the car elsewhere? Not sure of that. Anyway, I'll give that a try on this go round.

I believe the service department not the sales department has to cover the cost of the loaner cars they use and at $120 or so an hour I believe they can afford to do so. I often don't get my cars serviced at the selling dealer and see no difference in how I am treated which with Lexus is usually very good.
