Default long trip feedback on the ls460l

so this past weekend my wife and i drove the ls460l from orange county to san francisco for a car show. due to our schedule, we had to start our trip early sat, arrive there by noon, stay overnight, car show from 7am - 7pm, and then drove back immediately. 400 miles one way, about 5 to 5 1/2 hours. this was the first time we took the car for such a long trip. keep in mind my car is lowered and with 22s, so stock i suppose it can only be better

in short, what a ride. i have never been in a car that's more comfortable, and my wife said the same thing as well. the seats are big and soft, and the headrest, it's so soft like a pillow, so i found myself leaning against it when driving long straight strips a lot.

the car was very quiet (sorry, no wind noise at all, i tried to listen), suspension still very smooth on the most part (except the sf roads...), and the mark levinson audio was brilliant. with the help of the override, we played videos and concerts, it was so nice. i could listen to the songs and my wife enjoyed the video.

the show was held in a location where air circulation was pretty bad, so towards the end, instead of staying outside, my wife and i actually got in the back seat (HUGE space), reclined the seat all the way, rolled up all the rear shades, and took some quick naps there. insulation was so good, we didn't have any bad smell inside the car, and didn't hear much of the loud noise outside as well

this car is some serious flagship from lexus i have to say. our gs400, sc430, or the new gs350 really couldn't come close. i love it

EDIT: i forgot to mention, i have always had back problem, and on long drives, i always have lower back pain after 2-3 hours driving. so every time after the trip it would take me a while to stand up straight again. BUT GET THIS. this time after the 2 trips back and forth, i did not have ANY back pain at all! maybe a bit stiff, but no pain. get off the car and i was running already. it's really amazing.

Aw, shucks - I thought you meant a LONG trip! 800 miles is a one-day jaunt.

(Just razzing you, Rom. Glad you enjoyed it.)

I drove all the way down to L.A. non-stop(except for fuel & food) all by myself more than 10 years ago, that's a long trip In a frigging Honda too, not as comfy as a LS460, I might fall asleep doing that in a Lexus lol

Wow glad you had a great time...and the idea of video on the wide LS 460 L screen makes the override sound more and more tantalizing...

I love napping in the LS. And although I don't have the long version I could have slept for 8 hours. It is quiet and comfortable and is almost preferable to some of the hotels I have stayed at on the road

That sounds like one heck of a comfortable drive. Glad you enjoyed it. How'd you do at the show?

romin, I had the same experience as you did. I drove to the Detroit area (580 miles one way) and it was wonderful I also have trouble with lower back pain after long trips. But this time, it was painless. The trip back home was also a "piece of cake". Listening to great songs I had downloaded and also having fun with XM radio and XM live traffic made the trip seem a lot shorter. I absolutely love this car.

I was going to reply on your other thread regarding on the long trip with the 22s. Glad it worked out perfectly
I forgot if the LS has full size spare tire???

Alot of people say lexus leather/seating is too soft, like a broken-in couch.
I love lexus leather and their seating (except for weak lateral support).
I remembered we took the GX to vegas and my wife being 6 months pregnant. She had NO problems at all

One time we rented a mustang to head out for a long road trip. Within 30 minutes of driving, we drove right back to the hertz and got a sedan
