Question, I'm a newbie. Just purcahsed a 08 LS460 SWB, Does it come with a "card key?" The owner's manual says "if equipped" and the salesperson is "not sure." Thanks.

 

no, card key only standard for 600hl.

you can get it from sewell lexus (vendor here) and have it programmed to work with your car. they are running a special now. check the vendor forum

 

I don't believe it does and I think your salesperson knows (or should know) the answer to that question.

First of all I find it incredible that the idiot doesn't know the answer outright, but even if he doesn't know, the next words out of his mouth should be "I'll find out for you right now."

This is so true.

Not to hijack the topic, but I left my sunglasses behind in the car I traded in. I realized this within 20 minutes of driving off in my new car. I couldn’t make it back to the dealer that day, so I called and asked the salesman to just retrieve my sunglasses and hold them for me for a couple of days until I could come back and pick them up. Well, apparently he couldn’t be bothered: The car was sent off to auction early the next day and my Maui Jims went with it.

I called Sewell Lexus, and they quoted $425 for the Card Key alone, + $90 for the slim metal key that goes in it. (Online Sewell sells for $350)

My local Lexus dealer sold me the key for $330, + $88 for the metal key, $50 for programming.

The Card Key sits securely in my wallet. One less thing to worry about!

 

Whoever you talked to at Sewell was wrong or you misunderstood the price. I ordered my card key online from Sewell last Sunday (9/29/13) with a pre cut key and had it two day fedex'd to me. It arrived this morning. Total cost $264.04 for both the smart access card and the key cut to my specific VIN. I have a 2009. With the CL discount very few Lexus dealers can match the price of Sewell.

I am having it programmed this Saturday at my local dealer.
