Cool Tinted Windows -- YES!

I live near Dallas, TX. I just got my Black 2008 LS 460 Friday. I will be tinting the windows before the spring. The sun and UV rays can get much more intense down here than up north, so I need the tinting.
I did have tinting on my Black 2005 LS 430, and I thought it looked great: 20 on the rear window and rear side windows; 35 on the front side windows. They help protect the leather from the sun's rays a lot. They look great and you'll never know you have tinted windows from the inside.
Ceramic tint is the best since it's not metallic and doesn't interfere with radio reception.
If you decide to tint, make sure you go where they have templates for the LS 460 so the tinting is precisely precut before they put it on your windows. That way there's no need to use a razor blade on your glass. Good luck.

and also depend on your interior color. if you have light interior, you can take darker tint without looking too dark. but if you have black interior, you have to be careful otherwise it looks "dark" very quickly

I put tint on my black ls460 soon after purchase and would highly recommend it. I tint all of my vehicles but live in Nevada where the sun is really brutal. I put dark tint (can't remember the %) on my car. I think it is one step lighter than limo tint. Technically illegal for the front doors, but I know a guy who installed the tint for cash. There are pics of my car posted on a thread several weeks ago (post wheel installation).

Check what's legal in your area. Here in Missouri, the police have a light meter and if it's too dark up front, they will write a ticket.

I live in LV Nevada I have 15% Ceramic tint on the very Back window and 35% on both the front and rear doors. I have a Black 460L with Black interior.

IMO you would definitely want 15% or 20% on the back window. If you use 5% IMO it is a little too hard to see out of at night. You may want to use 15% or 20% on the sides but that is up to your personal taste. 35% you can still see in enough to see that people are in the car... 15% it is VERY hard to see in the car especially at night. Depends what you are looking for with your tint. Looking from the inside of the car out there is hardly any difference between 15% and 35%. I was a window tinting installer back in the 80's when I was in High School. Tints have come a LONG way since then.

watch out for tinting laws in your state....it's a pain in the *** to take off and then get it cleared in court and then go back and get it done again.....for those of you lucky (or unlucky) enough, you can get a medical exclusion on tinting %age.......

Cool New Tint Film

Just had my 2008 LS 460 swb tinted with "Lintec WinCos Tint" from Japan for $245.00 including tax. It's better than Huper Optik and cheaper than 3M. It cuts out infa-red rays from the sun to keep your car very cool. Doesn't matter if the tint is 20% or 30% -- the car still stays cool. WOW !!!

In AZ, we run 15% all around, more as a necessity, but I love the look of a dark tinted car.

I would highly recommend running a single percentage all around. If 35% is legal for your front, run 35% alla round. I hate 2 tone tint jobs.

You could ask your Lexus Dealer for a referral. I'd check with Autozone and O'Reilley's Auto Parts Stores too.
Ask how long the tint shop has been in business. If 10 years, they'll be there to service you in the future.
Once you decide on a tint brand, check the manufacturer's web site for referrals.

Good Luck!
