Default what is the differance between 3pc wheels and cast

I didn't think this would be so hard, I have been looking for wheels for my LS 460, at first I thought Vossen 078 ( one pc ) then I saw the Asanti 3 pc. I know the cost is more for 3pc but is it a better built wheel?

I saw the Asanti wheel today in person and man it look great. Need your help and input.

Thanks

not necessarily better built if it's 3 piece. it's just different type of constructions, 3 piece is "technically" easily to replace (practically it's another story), and in terms of offsets and sizing it's easier for customizations

quality completely based on the company and the manufacturer they use. 3 piece wheels and 1 piece wheels could both be either forged or cast (some 3 piece have cast centers and forged barrels).

Asanti has 2 piece and 3 piece wheels make sure that you get what your paying for. The 2 piece is alot less then the 3 piece. 3 piece wheels are lighter, also the lip is flatter on the 3 piece in the Asanti. Generally most people not knowing Asanti couldnt tell the diffrence. The one dead give away is that the center caps are green on the two piece, but I have seen people that order them with the blue caps. I could tell but most would not. I have the 120's on mine in 22's in chrome

3pc and cast are acutally 2 totally different things technically.

One is contruction (3pc) and the other is metal composition (cast vs forged). For instance, Lowenharts are 3pc AND cast.

As far as multipiece forged vs 1pc cast, the extra expensse is mainly due to the custom build of 3pc forged, since they are built from scratch specifically for your car.

I always use the analogy of a tailor made suit vs. a suit of the rack. Both may look great, but one is inevitably going to cost more!

They are good wheels, just too common for my tastes. I think another member here coined the phrase "me too wheels" when referring to Asanti. Every mom and pop shop on every corner has them.

I prefer more exclusive brands, but for the record there is nothing wrong with Asanti wheels.

PS - if your getting these locally, please ensure you look at the wheel in the size and spec you getting. All wheels look breathtaking in 22" with a 6" lip, but that's not a accurate depiction of what your 20" with 3.5" lip will look like! :;
