Default Which 2008 LS 460 should I buy?

I'm in the process of purchasing a new 2008 LS 460 SWB. I have the option of getting a car with Navigation and Mark Levinson, Parking Assist, Power Door and Tunk, Premium Floor Mats, Comfort Pkg, and Accessory Pkg (NL, CP, PA, PP, PF and Z1) OR -- getting the Advanced Parking Guidance and Lexus Link (NP, MZ) in addition (neither of which I'll ever use) for $1,500 more. I hate to pay for what I'll never use and I don't think I'll ever get it back in trade-in or resale value. Any opinions?

Welcome to CL
Personally, I would pick the first package.

I don't see a use for lexus link (since it hardly leave you stranded). If it's a bmw or mb give me all the help and warranty that's out there.

Besides, there's a cell phone and AAA

I'm sure more members will respond.

I wouldn't get the car without the Mark Levinson stereo. I know the nav and Mark Levinson come packaged together. The rest of those options are over kill in my opinion. If you won't use them, have them locate a car without those options.

Welcome to CL!

I think you answered your own question. If you are not going to use those options, and don't think they'll increase resale value (I think you would get fair value for the APG), then definitely don't get them.

welcome to clublexus! personally, if i had the choice, i would get the first one. the advanced parking guidance is more of a gadget, i hardly see it in use often. with the nav you already have backup camera, that's sweet enough already

lexuslink, i don't see myself using it neither

that's good 1500 bucks for you

ditto on the first choice.....

they really need to include the adaptive cruise as well as the proposed future blind spot 'helper' in this car!!! even my sienna minivan has the adaptive cruise control!

anyone know if i could get a toyota version of the adaptive cruise control and have that installed into my LS?

I was initially considering buying what appears to be your first package. But then I realized, that paying extra something for self-parking feature is not going to make much of a difference on the bottom line. This car has become famous primarily because of self-parking and killer ML sound. It may be the icing on the cake, but I am happy I got it.

I know a guy who drives a base version without ML and many other options that I have. He may have saved a couple of grand, but now he feels that he is driving a lesser car. Not a good feeling to have in a 70K vehicle.

I say - go all in. You won't regret it. The $1500 is pocket change compared to the feeling of owning the best of the bunch. As wise men say - "we are not rich enough to buy cheap things".

i agree $1500 is nothing to what you will pay for the car and think of the resale value

MMOROZOV,
You must be Russian. I've only heard that expression from my father.

Thanx again guys for your comments. It was too hard to find a local 2008 LS 460 without Lexus Link and Advanced Parking Guidance so -- my local dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse: $1,500.00 worth of extra options for $400.00! My new Obsidian with Black Interior LS 460 Base Model will be here in about a week with: NP, MZ, CP, PA, PP, PF, Z1. I can't wait! Total deal = 9.33% off list (is that good?).

Sounds good to me, I only saved $1K off of sticker for one of the first 07's.
