Mobil 1 at the auto parts store. Toytoa brand at the Toyota dealer which is made by Mobil 1 and labeled for Toyota. O'Reilly Auto Parts is who stocks the 0W20 here. Yes, the oil is 100% synthetic...

New Lexus = Dealership Service
No if's and buts about it... please don't be cheap, (using regular 87 octane etc.), and ruin it for the next guy.

Default Oil Change

Craig B, By all means do it yourself, if you are able. Buy Mobile 1 synthetic oil at Costco and a premium oil/air (Mobile1) filter a long with an oil pan, filter cap at an auto store.

For over 20 yrs I would take a filter & have walmart do my oil changes on the three MBZ Diesels I owned. I always stood near the car & watch them. A couple of times I would tell that they didn't have enough Qts of oil etc.

I now have a 05 LS430 & it's due for 35K service. I made an appt at my dealer & it would cost $169.00. I called the Toyota dealer & they will do the oil change & rotate the wheels for $30.00 ( I have a coupon) . So I'm taking it to Toyota. I bought a 5 qt bottle of Moble 1 5/30w for $21.00 that I'm taking in for the oil change. With enough of these $130.00 savings on the services, it may help pay for the extended warranty I want to get. I will still use the Lexus dealer for the more extensive service's.

BUSTN - glad to hear you went to the dealer to do it and not Wal*Mart.

I did do the oil change myself on my Miata recently to learn how to do it, but that must be a cakewalk compared to an LS460 which is a much much more sophisticated car and may even require special tools to get it done.

By the way, I got 5qts Mobil-1 from Wal*Mart for $20.

The prius runs on 0w-20.

I believe Toyota released a TSIB awhile ago stating that the 06+ vehicles will run on 5w-20 instead of 5w-30 where applicable.

I agree. They would probably not be able to figure out how to drain it...
