And now, the "Brass Tacks..."
Well, our first child is arriving anyday! We have an LR3 (which is fine) and a 996TT (which really is not). Time to add a sedan to the stable and perhaps kiss the Turbo goodbye.
First, a local all-makes dealer gave me a pre-owned 2006 M5 overnight. This is a phenomenal sports sedan. I had the previous model and enjoyed it immensely. However, I found the SMG in this one annoying...and the overall condition of the car to be suspect (ergo the great price I guess).
I returned the M5 this aft and drove straight over to the Lexus dealer. We took out a Smoky Granite / Black / Executive LWB.
I am blown away. The car is silent and silk-smooth. Tons of gadgetry, which I love. I have no problem with the soft-handling setup, and was actually impressed by the car's nimbleness given its size and weight. I was even more pleasantly surprised by the Sport suspension setting offered in the package.
Conclusion: it's a 380 HP cocoon with GPS, Bluetooth and nineteen speakers, and I think I want one.
I personally would not bother with the full load on the LWB as I want five seats and a full-sized trunk. However, I think I would like the adjustable suspension so I guess I would opt for the Premium Grand Touring package. Bigger brakes, bigger wheels too...why not. (I just wish it came with parking sensors.)
That said however, a SWB fully laden with the Technology Package is offered for like CAD $5k less.
So:
1. Loaded SWB, or LWB with Touring?
2. Do I grab one off the lot now, or order a 2008 (which you can do locally starting in July)?
3. Mercury Metallic / Black (available now in both sizes) or Truffle Mica / Black (order in July as per above)?
Thanks for your input and for all the other informative threads thus far.

My wife and I are just starting to talk about going down the path to kids and cars came up in the conversation. My porsche (box) is going away when it happens also in exchange for the Range Rover so we will have similar cars...
Anyway, my advice is to wait until the 2008's come out but put your name on the list now so you get the first. This will be better from a depreciation standpoint and a couple of small areas will be improved as well as problems corrected.
By the way, the LS is a great choice especially when you have a family...
