The above reply is absolutely correct. My garage is at the bottom of a downhill driveway. No matter what you do to it, there is always still enough glaze of ice on many winter days that the friggin RWD LS430 just won't go up period.

I am just not gonna spend 70 grand to continue with this aggravation when, as said before, everyone else and their grandmother (except, for some odd reason, BMW 7 series) makes a flagship car with AWD.

In the rare instances that some southern states get a snowfall, there are more cars off the road than on it. With no winter driving skills, those drivers are helpless.

Two keys are knowing how to feather the throttle, and most importantly, looking well ahead to where you are going. Driving with an eye to 100 to 300 or more feet ahead of you is critical. Being prepared to take on a curve or an incline is 80% of the battle.

To be sure, with two drivers of equal ability, the one with AWD has the definite advantage. However, the skilled winter driver in a RWd can quite literally run circles around the unskilled regardless of the vehicle.
This is demonstrated in every snow storm when so many of the vehicles off the road are the AWD vehicles (SUV's).

You're forgetting that Lexus also has (or will have soon) an AWD flagship, the LS600hL. I hope it gets up my driveway.....

No, I am not forgetting. But for that extra 30 grand I can buy a NICE AWD SUV for those bad days.

Or to put it another way, 60 grand is about my limit for what I'll spend on a car. 70 is REALLY pushin' it but 100 is out of the question.
