Here's another nice little touch I like. All the other A/C units I've had require you to push the "Recirculate" button when you either want extra fast heating or cooling. The LS460 automatically appplies the recirculate function when it detects you need a boost in heating or cooling.

And when it sniffs pollutants like black diesel fumes or old beaters' smelly exhaust. That, I really appreciate.

Yes, the smog sensor is great, plus it's settings-adjustable.

Also love the Park Assist sensors...

Has anyone mentioned the APGS yet?

Today I inadvertently found out about another nice feature. This afternoon I was sitting in my car with the accessory position on. I was loading some phone numbers and then playing with the XM radio. I went in the house for something and for a while forgot that I had left the radio on. I'm not sure how long I was gone, maybe 30 to 40 minutes, and when I went back to the car I saw that it had shut itself off. That might save a few people from run down battery some day!

Breaking the rule of 3, but....

I love:

1. The "Hold" function.
2. The parking sensors that are always active (unlike BMW).
3. Speed dial buttons.
4. HDD in the ML system that records my CDs.
5. The voice recognition actually works well (unlike BMW).
6. Having a QWERTY keyboard option.
7. Wet-sanded paint finish
8. Overall experience is outstanding

I would change:

1. The speed of the trunk opener frustrates me. Closing I could care less about, but when I need the trunk opened, I hate the long wait.
2. No ability to list the XM stations by genre (Hope I missed something here)
3. Greater reduction of body roll when suspension is set to "SPORT" on my touring pkg.
4. The ability to use the nav system while moving...great Nav system but too restrictive.
5. Something on the touch screen to toggle between SAT 1, 2, 3 without having to go through AM using the hard to reach button at the bottom.
6. How cool would it be for an "F" version of the LS to compete against AMG?
Big wheels/tires, 500HP, sporty body kit, etc. All doable via after market, but I won't go that route.
7. Add a solar sunroof option (Audi A8) Hate getting into a oven-like interior.

Overall, this is a fantastic car with lots of great features and cool gadgetry. No regrets here.

Suggestions on these two to make the 460 even more perfect:

1. The speed of the trunk opener frustrates me. Closing I could care less about, but when I need the trunk opened, I hate the long wait.

More times than not, I simply pull the handle down manually as it is so easy and fast. Love to watch the auto-closer function complete the process.

5. Something on the touch screen to toggle between SAT 1, 2, 3 without having to go through AM using the hard to reach button at the bottom.

I use the voice commands here as it is real easy to simply say "Sat 3" and go directly to it. I like the touch screen too but there are times where the voice command is both intuitive and faster. Its also kind of nice to hear your car obey your commands. :-)

The radio shuts off after an hour. I've sat in my car waiting on someone and found that out...

Likes in oder of preference:
*Door unlocks when you touch the handles.
*Power-coupled with 8 speed trans.
*ML sound system
*Look of the Information display
*The cars overall styling
*Overall comfort interior layout

Dislikes:
Nav-Cell phone and DVD lock out-working on that.

Seat belt chimes-also working on that.

Can open trunk unless you have the key in your pocket-needs a button that works unless the car is locked

Cheap turn signal and head light controls.

Don't like Lexus choice of matching option packages.

The TFT display on the instrument panel is animated, that's pretty cool.

Maybe there is some code or Lexus Personalized Settings on the seatbelt?

What is your favorite "special feature(s)"?
After 7 weeks, I am still learning about the various special features on my LS (LWB Exec Seating). I'd like to know what the owners think are their favorite features - and maybe their non favorite. There may be a few that I don't know about! Mine, pretty much in order:
1. Intuitive Parking Assist - I do a lot of short trips and haven't touched another car yet when parking - I've even een beeped when a pedestrian got too close.
2. Automatic Light turn on/off
3. HDD storage for CD's and sound quality from ML system
4. Radar on cruise control
5. NAV system with XM radio traffic alerts
5. Tire Pressure readout from dash
6. Blue Tooth (new to me - my old LS was a 1991)
7. Rain sensor windshield wipers
8. My wife's favorite is the ottoman and recliner with massage

It is quite amazing that none of these features were on my 91 LS400.

Most useless feature:
1. Advanced Parking - takes way too long unless you are in an empty lot where you don't need it.
2. Lexus Blocking using NAV/Phone/Most Audio when the car is moving.
3. "I agree" screen (though I have a similar one on my Garmin Nuvi at start up)

Merged here with earlier replies to the features question from mid-2007.

Let's continue the discussion for new and all owners!

It definitely is a nice contrast with the original LS, of course rightfully the spirit and tradition has been carried over in large part.
